i agree. the beatles and the who are very different bands but each are amazing in their own way. i love them both. we should feel lucky that both bands have given us such excellent and timeless music to enjoy. this song, 'the kids are alright,' is a true classic and i love it.

Rebellion, solitude, acceptance .. this song has it all. That it may be one the best songs the Who ever did comes as no particular surprise; and, it's one of my favorites, too.

I love the total absence of continuity, the way they aren't taking it too serious, John's weird hair, Roger laughing when he would be supposed to be singing and the lack of 'effort' on mimiking XD One of my favorite videos! I could whatch it over and over!

This and their other Mod singles are in my opinion the best things they ever did. From 1965 to 1967 each single was spine tinglingly fab, as was most of the British music being written at the time.

Why does everyone always compare every single band to The Beatles? I think that The Who and The Beatles are two very different bands. To me, even this song sounds nothing like The Beatles. They are both unique and INCREDIBLE bands and I see no reason why one of them has to trump over the other one. I think they're both equally great bands- and as far as I am concerned they both have their own unique sound.

Absolutely, their early material when they were the High Numbers and their first 4 lps as The Who are their most fun period, crazy young kids full of piss and vinegar and talent, going nuts and having a blast.

This is a really wonderful little clip, it's a great reminder of a time that once was, a usual day (well maybe not entirely) in Hyde Park in 1966; their refusal even to try playing along with the music is annoying and delightful at the same time (as always in their lip-sync performances of the time :-), and an extra bonus is that the camera man paid unusually much attention to John. Long time ago and half of them gone but you still can hardly beat this.

Oh my God what a wonderful clip this is, the band fooling around and having fun (so what if they didn't care about the miming?), all those folks in the boats crowding up behind them, the cute girls smiling, a nice sunny day in Hyde Park some 44 years ago, just love it.

I love their early stuff AND their 70s stuff. They're great in different ways. I think the Who are an excellent example of a band's sound evolving over time. While their early stuff is awesome and has a great raw simplicity to it, they certainly couldn't have sounded like this forever - it would have gotten stale rather quickly. My personal favorite of theirs is actually Quadrophenia, which I consider to be their last "classic" album.

I fucking love The Beatles, been obsessed with them since I was a little kid. I have every album, vinyl and CD, the Remastered in both Mono and Stereo, and posters of them plaster at least a quarter of my house. I, however, fucking worship The Who, and the other three-quarters is devoted to them. Mr. Peter Dennis Blandford Townshend, Mr. John Alec Entwistle: You are and were fucking deities amongst mere men.

I think this clip was actually filmed for an American TV series, "Where The Action Is', which aired from 1965 until 1967. On it, rock and pop stars "performed" songs in outdoor locations. Perhaps for some reason The Who couldn't come to/be in the 'States to be on the show, so they were filmed "doing" this song in London.
