He actually fixes himself if you romance him. He's still sassy and snarky, but he starts to heal from his trauma. Also, if you're playing a good character, you can trigger dialogue in which he calls you a bleeding heart and another in which he calls you naive and says you lack ambition (which is funny because for me it was right before he confessed lol)

@@stars-and-clouds Oh, I know. I just realized I left out words 🤦‍♀My fingers got ahead of my last 2 brain cells. It was supposed to say "He actually fixes himself if you romance him *and it's refreshing*". Those last words are critical, because it's nice to see a character who goes "Hey, this person sees *something* in me, so I'm not totally a lost cause" and change themselves for the better rather than the typical "I'm going to fix the person who isn't trying to fix themselves" that many games (and other media) do. EDIT: I have no clue how to fix the bolding problem. Sorry.

You can also do this if you're playing as someone else, such as Tav, Durge, or a different origin character. Just take control of Astarion and start the convo, same as normal! I read about rogues having extra dialogue options with Mattis and went "Huh, Astarion's a rogue. Maybe it'll work." And it did! It's really sweet to see him act nice with the kids. And it also fits with his character, even at the beginning when he's all prickly. It lets him show off for people who are in the same situation as him: scared, alone, on the run, and in desperate need of a laugh.

he kidnapped an entire ethnic groups set of children- lied about it [miss me with that BS he didn't remember because if you control him in the Act 3 interaction he totally does] then tries to convince you to mass murder them in an evil ritual for the devil so he can get a tan. & If you fail the persuasion check he locks them all in the cages for eternity. He should never have access to children.

@@resonatinglo Well DnD lore isn't fixed and changes around all the time, so it depends on the edition. In Forgotten Realms (and folklore), there are Vampire/Mortal offspring called Dhampirs (or Dhampyrs). They're created either when a vampire bites a pregnant woman and passes on the affliction to the unborn babe... OR they can be conceived (typically but not exclusively) when a Vampire male has intercourse with a mortal woman. (It's rarely the other way around due to fertility of an undead) However, it apparently needs the vampire in question to have drunk a lot of blood for him to have enough lifeforce in his body to become temporarily fertile. A lot of Dhampirs are stillborn. But some survive. They generally have all the vampiric powers but none of the weaknesses. They sometimes crave blood but not always and can survive on either a diet of blood or human food. They're exceptionally beautiful but can blend in with humans really well. Some can become quite evil, but mainly they end up being monster hunters, with a particular hatred for Vampires. They usually end up being adventures hunting down vampires and other foul creatures. Like humans, they turn out however they're raised, so if they're raised with lots of love, they're a generally nice person. So, feel free to imagine Astarion as a dad. 😁

⁠@@DAngelLilith I remember reading something like that about vampires being able to have offspring known as dhampirs…I don’t think it’s in the game but I think for vampire’s like astarion they could possibly walk in the sun if they have some kind of jewelry with a resistance spell on it but I could be wrong tho…im still trying to learn about dnd stuff to be honest, but its a nice thought tho getting him that jewelry to where he can at least be in the sun the other stuff would still probably effect him tho I think 😅

I have another playthrough that I play where I romance Astarion (again... lol) and I hear him there and record the videos there, but sometimes kinda to relax, I play on this one as Astarion origin. I just thought it was soo cool this scene with the Rogue answers and the kids, so I recorded it. 🖤😊

​@@alyasya8226 While I personally do prefer silent protagonists (voice actors can never quite get the lines the way I would have wanted to say them, and over time they do tend to infuse a character with their own individual personality, making the character no longer a blank slate you can superimpose yourself onto), I suspect you're right about why Larian didn't go for full voice acting. Recording lines for every single Tav combination of race, sub-race, class, multi-class, and finer details like deity/religion/origin would have been a monstrously complex project. Plus, with Larian also giving us the option to freely customize the stats and class of companions and origin chars, that then runs into a situation where they'd need to record lines for every single possible permutation for the Origin characters as well. That's... just too much work. XD

Haha. I also had no success with my Tav, but now that I play Origin Astarion, the rogue options actually did the trick better than anything. So yes, Astarion is amazing with the kids 😁🖤😊

I am not sure if you can just use him, if you are not playing as an Origin Astarion. Usually Tav does the checks and I think in many scenes you can't use the companions if you are not playing as them. 🤔
