Scott, 80% of these guys that hop on these AAS cycles have zero knowledge on HPTA, blood work, nutrition, and the long term side effects. It is pretty horrifying. Thanks for all the insightful knowledge and content over the years! Edit: I want to add, I had a friend a little over a year ago hop on a Test E cycle of 600mg a week. His original plan was to be on it for 16 weeks, but only stayed on for 7(family reasons). He took no AI, hCG, no bloods taken, or PCT. Since that cycle he said he hasn't felt the same and has been dealing with ED/depression issues. Be safe out there guys and do your research.

yeah is very scary how these guys trust "word of mouth" to potentially life altering drugs like these. Insane 😐

I'm in my mid 20s, and I actually ended up taking a long hiatus from fitness this year. Actually I took a hiatus from a lot of things I love. Combination of stress, depression, and a generally bad time in grad school. It got to a point where I'm going to transfer to a different program in a different country this spring, with a program that I made sure suits my needs. I just hope I can get my consistency back and rekindle my passions. Not just for fitness and sports, but everything. Happy birthday, Scott! Thanks for all you've done for the space!

November 3rd 1984, I too will be 39 this year and have been lifting weights since I was 12...and following you on KZbin since you and Scooby69 appeared on the old Tube! I would see kids who achieved results in a matter of a year, which in all my years as a natural lifter am yet to achieve. And the biggest thing that would bug me is when they promoted themselves as Natty. And they plug some supplement to make money...fooling others that they can achieve the same naturally. It is easy to get carried away on the complain train. On another note, a more positive one...a lot of good is happening in the world, I am on a personal mission to add to that good as I feel you certainly are. So keep on shining your light, brother and all the best to You. Happy birthday to you!

So true, i see that in my close friends who have only started getting in to lifting over the last few years. Their only expectations in the gym come from enhanced users on tiktok or instagram so they get really discouraged when realise they have to work their ass off for the 0.5kg of muscle growth a month, leading them to either wanna hop on gear, have body dysmorphia or give up all together

Happy Birthday! Thanks for all your great content! This is a great message. I didn't start lifting weights until I was 55 years old. The whole point was to get the benefits of better health by improving my physique. Using juice was completely out of the question for me as I was just not prepared to take the risks. Fast forward to today and I still lift 5 days a week. I start early in the morning to make working out the PRIORITY for the day and it has worked very well. My body doesn't know that I'm at the bottom of the barrel in terms of testosterone production, so I just keep going without the damn stuff. For the young guys just getting started, you don't need juice - you need patience. Day by day......

This is actually a great insight. I remember starting the gym almost four years ago(January 2020), when I was not able to do a single pull up, and I was thinking how awesome it would be if I were to be able to do 10 of these, now when I can do 12-13 it seems its just not enough. Now this can be a good thing to progress, to be better but I think we should also appreciate the journey and progress that we had made.

Hey Scott. Long time follower here, been with you since the start of your journey. And what I love about who you are and your channel is that your channel is about integrity, growth, wisdom, the brutal truth and hard work. You're never afraid to say what you think. And you never do anything to impress others for the sake of impressing them. (Unlike most fitness channels). You could have sold yourself out. Went down the 'enhanced' road. Sold scammy courses like the 6 pack abs trend. But you have always been honest and stayed true to who you are. It's a shame social media is all about glitz, glamour and drama. This will have a compounding effect on the next generation.

Happy Birthday bro! Mine is the 19th I’m turning 36. But I 100% agree with you. I been seeing it the gym and in my everyday life. People dont realize how social media is affecting their mental health. Excessive use has increased isolation, loneliness, fear of missing out (FOMO), and decreased subjective well-being and life satisfaction. Users at risk of social media addiction often describe feelings of depression and lower self-worth. It’s sad that this younger generation rather care what others think of them to get validation.

Im 29 and started a workout routine I made a year ago, mostly based on your "only 2" series, and have really cut fat and put on some mass (lots of work still to do). But I started clinicals for my RN program about 6 weeks ago, and the stress & busyness of life has majorly gotten in the way of making progress. Real life definitely inhibits most of our abilities to get the absolute optimal amount of reps in every week. Hell, some weeks lately I haven't even gotten in 1 workout. Great video, Scott.

I'm glad there influencers like you talking about this. There's other unnatural influencers who will say how bad steroids are, but it's hard to listen to any of them because they obviously don't believe what they are saying. Alan Thrall had a great video a while back about why he's never used. He had a particular quote "taking steroids won't make me a better person" that really really resonated with me. It really put into perspective the fitness goals I have in comparison of far more important, meaningful goals. You do a similar thing in your video talking about how our lives won't always revolve around the gym. Thank you! I'm still on the younger side and I know so many people on steroids and it is a little disparaging knowing that I'll never be as big or strong as I would be if I did the same. My newbie gains are far gone now and watching others get to go through newbie gains again through their first cycles is crazy

I've been working out since I was 19, but only got really serious when I was around 33. Fast forward to 47 and I'm the strongest I've been in many of my lifts, and definitely the most muscular I've ever been. But I hear you about not being able to be at the gym 3 hours a day, 5 days a week, as we get older. I was able to keep it up until about 2021, but had to cut down to three or four days a week in recent years. That kind of time commitment (5 days, 2-3 hours) is just not sustainable for most of us who have to work or have families. My advice to younger lifters is to take the high road and stay natural. By starting going, you can make great gains over time and stay in it for the long haul, well into old age. I only wish I had gotten more serious when I was in my teens instead of in my early 30s.

Love the message. I think this is good for everyone to hear especially those who want to be influencers, professional athletes etc. There comes a point where life takes over and it’s time to realize that not everyone can be an influencer, pro athlete, etc. Happened to me in college with soccer. Realized that it was time to step back and focus on my career path and not be able to be in the gym everyday with my friends or go for extra training sessions. Now at 25 I have a great job and I am set up for the rest of my career with great pay and benefits while most of my friends are still trying to figure it out.

*Happy the Birthday, Scott* .and greetings from Prague, CZ. I agree with everything you say. I sometimes watch those channels that discuss the science behind performance enhancing drugs, and while for me it's interesting to learn about how your hormone system works, 50%+ of the things that are discussed are ways to mitigate the terrible potential side effects of taking PEDs. Those of us who've followed your channel for decades ( I'm literally into my 2nd decade watching ha ha) have seen what hard work in the gym, and with your properties etc can yield. And isn't it more satisfying to know what you have you got through honest hard work rather than taking some pill/ injection based short cut. Anyways, enjoy a slice of birthday cake at least !

Scott, I agree with your message here. You and I are devout natural lifters and proud, and our reasons are justified and correct. However... We really need to STOP giving people, especially the youth, the option to make the degenerate choice to harm their bodies by taking steroids. In your video, you mentioned early on that people should be able to do whatever they want, it's their life, etc... This is the same exact thing that I hear other naturals on YT say about people who decide to juice. "I think you should be natty, but you do you, bro! It's your life!" This is insane and this live-and-let-live mentality needs to die. The opposite approach needs to be used - we need to shame and disavow those who inject themselves with poison for the sole purpose of pure vanity and narcissism. We need to aggressively redirect our culture into something that values natural, healthy living. For thousands of years, our ancestors built physiques and physical prowess without the need for drugs. Moving forward, we need to become inspired by the past. Some of the strongest, fittest men in history were also some of the most hardworking, honorable, humble, and well-respected amongst their peers... All without the use of poison. In other words, the natural lifters of today, including ourselves, need to stop being afraid of telling people what is right and wrong, what they should or should not do. I would never tell my child, close relative, close friend, coworker, acquaintance, etc. that they should use steroids "if they WANTED to." Absolutely NOT. I would firmly TELL them "NO. You're not going to poison yourself. Why? For X and Y reasons. Do NOT even think about it. I care about you too much to allow that to happen." I know I seem like I'm rambling at this point, but I am just so sick and tired of the libertarian/free-spirit mindset of "Oh yeah, do whatever you want." That mindset is the exact thing that's absolutely rotting our civilization into dust. People need to be told what is right/wrong and provided with substantial education into the issues. Our culture and law need to reflect a society that values health, not narcissism. Cheers.

Well can't agree more... gym kinda might have been my priority at some point, but now and pretty much always i just did it to be healthier and stay a bit in shape, doing full body workout like twice a week nowadays and i'm fine with that, don't wanna overdo or hurt my body and at least i'm doing something unlike so many people in their 30's gaining a lot of weight and are just rly unhealthy in general. Everyone has their own life and choices so i'm not judging but i always did it for myself, i feel good after a workout, i feel healthier in general and that's it, 'influencers' on juice is just ridiculous for me tbh, I always loved to follow you and your videos, amazing way of telling and showing how to do stuff in the gym, also mealplan and just everything for a normal human starting or want to improve in gym and now also your thoughts on stuff like this, i couldn't care less about how someone is looking on juice, or how much they can lift, for everyone their own, and they can do whatever but it's like following a channel telling you how to cheat without getting caught or have consequences, or just girls being like oh wow he's so big... but it's all fake and there will always be consequences at some point like u say, and regret for a lot of them unfortunately, i'm happy i can say i never used anything other than some supplements like creatine, bcaa's, protein but that's just food so, and vitamines and glucosamine as a support but nothing illegal and even barely anything nowadays, which also isn't good i know, but since gym and staying in shape (definitely not like you, but not too bad ether) was always my goal, taking stuff that is unhealthy in so many ways is like completely the opposite and doesn't make sense at all for me but hey, just risking your life even to be the next influencer that's gonna be pretty much forgotten a decade later? Most of those guys are probably even paying more for all their shit then what they could gain from social media, and definitely if they get some worse health problems by doing all that for years. It's a sad generation to be in i'm afraid for them, not much of them are rly motivated to learn and grow in a normal job anymore ether, and when they do end up in a normal job it's insane how privileged and lazy their attitude is towards colleagues, teamleaders and the company that is literally is paying them, and tbh i feel even worse for the ones who actually aren't like that and are labeled all the same and growing up along them.

It is a sad thing to see how many young people aren't doing things for their own sake or the happiness it gives them, but for the potential online attention they want more than a genuinely good experience.

Very true, this’s a trend happening in Australia. They only last a few months then crash and burn

This hits hard and is nothing but facts. Been in greatshape in my late teens and through out my twenties now that im going to be 39 next of march ive gained weight, hard to keep body fat down and mucles mass growth. I work out a lot and days seem to fly by. Im upping my cardio and weight lift whenever i can, im sore most of the time due to my age. It sux but never went to steroids or PEDs ever. It'll cause much more issues.

I'd say the worse thing that happens is you dont move/run as much. I noticed as soon as I started adding sprints back into my training, I felt like my old self. Consistency is key, and keeping the training intense when you CAN get to the gym is what keeps you young! Appreciate you sharing your story!

To be fair to the kids, becoming an influencer has no barrier. It is 100% based on your own ability, no gatekeeping needed, no ridiculous hoops to jump through. And if even mildly successful, they'll get tons of love and respect - just look at how much sympathy and respect objectively terrible influencers get just because at one point they were popular enough to gain an audience (eg Boogie or Nikocado). Who in their right mind would want to become a doctor, overworked and always under the barrel of lawsuits and not even respected anymore. And a cop? You have to be a sadist to want to become a cop in the USA today. Engineers? Those jobs might not even exist in 10-15 years, depending on fast AI gets going. We're in an era where nobody knows who's going to be the next candlemaker or typewriter salesman or vcr repairman. Hell, when I was a kid, if I had've aimed to become something in the financial sector like a stockbroker, I would never be able to find a job now because a lot of that industry is now reliant on AI powered computer algorithms. If I had gone into software engineering I might have a job today, but who knows in 10-15 years. So yeah, wanting to be an influencer when you grow up? Not a bad choice, all things considered, because nobody knows what the world is going to look like in even 10 years let alone 20.

Great video Scott. Happy birthday and keep up the great work and keep spreading the good messages that you are. It is a bummer that you even need to talk about this topic, because it is so rampant in the industry. Hopefully the pendulum will swing the other way and guys on roids will become the joke instead of the norm.

Thanks man! And yeah as much as I’d like to think things will swing, it’s hard to see it happening at this point

@@ScottHermanFitness It shocks me how many guys I work with, in an industrial setting, who are on gear. Then they go to the gym and hurt themselves because they think they can still lift like they are in their early 20's. Then they are out of work for 6 weeks and add even more stress to their lives. Its a sad state of affairs for sure and it doesn't make a lot of sense to me. Again, great video and thanks for the reply!

Man I'm 34 years old and been grinding my entire damn life to hit that 315lb for 3. My little brother started on gear (he's 5 years younger) and in a few months went from barely doing 220lb to hitting 315, it's crazy. People just want short cuts.

That's all they want man. They see a quick road to 'success' and jump at it. Not even thinking about the consequences

What about those herbs that increase testosterone levels in blood or slightly boost testosterone production in the body ?

Turkesterone? There is a big difference between something that is naturally occurring that might give you a 2 - 3% increase, vs something unnatural that is going to give you a 50% increase
