@ColinTherac1173 жыл бұрын
I dislike that they kept characterizing Marvin's actions as "greed". The fact of the matter is that when a big business comes into town, they often use underhanded tactics or worse, eminent domain, to strongarm local governments into giving them preferential treatment. The price for his land is not an objective thing. It is only something that can be determined through price negotiation. If the big business had agreed to a $1 million price, then that was the real value of the property. Every time he upped the price, and the buyer agreed, it was clear that he was underselling. But when the local government engaged in lawfare against the man and fined him for other things because he drew attention to himself, that was evil. Even if it was also wrong for him to be breaking the law by dumping sewage, the fact of the matter is that every single American breaks some law every single day. 99% of the time this is without even knowing that the law they are breaking even exists. And the fact of the matter was that, because he did not have millions to spend on lawyer fees, he could not fight back against the government in court through appeals processes. This is the great evil of bureaucratic democracy. And is also why I think his targeted fight against the local government was partially justified. Especially since he did not harm innocent third parties like the way the BLM riots hurt innocent people.

Sometimes, Reasonable Men Must Do Unreasonable Things. This video claims he was dumping sewage illegally, but fails to mention that they cut his sewer lines to try and force him off the land. The concrete plant owner is also a family member of one of the city councillors - that's classic conflict of interest. And finally, this video claims that it was "disproven" that access to his shop was restricted, but the facts of the case say otherwise - there were now only foot-paths into his business, the main road to access it was destroyed during the construction of the concrete plant. This man is an absolute legend and a hero, and I wish he hadn't taken his own life at the end. He would likely be free already, book deal and short movie contract in hand. But he was also deeply hurt by what his home town had done to him, so he was likely quite mentally ill by the end... at the hands of other people. Rest In Peace you glorious bastard.

@kenabbott85852 жыл бұрын
"but fails to mention that they cut his sewer lines to try and force him off the land." It fails to mention that, because that's not what happened. In fact, for nearly a decade, he had been dumping sewage and bragging that the town didn't do anything about it. I haven't found any evidence of the concrete plant owner being a family member, but the town council didn't do anything to the guy. And the business stayed open, which it's kinda hard for a muffler shop to do if cars can't reach it, so obviously there were more than "foot paths." Marvin Heemeyer was a psychotic and a cowards, not a hero. If he hadn't pussed out at the end, he'd probably be hitting on 14-year-olds at the mall right now.

He actually already had the bulldozer to make a path, he offered to make a path around the concrete factory with his own money and effort but it was rejected, they really screw him over and got what they deserved, there's a couple errors in this story too.

First I don't agree what he's done but after a lot of research I can say this. If he was greedy, I don't think he would have spent 10 years of his life, spending his money to seek and get justice over a town that hated the idea of a stranger buying what they considered was their land and making his business. Why do I feel like you're portraying the poor guy as greedy and bad in the beginning of the video? I did enough research to say this is the story of a common man who was wronged again and again and more times you'd think possible. And who after years of B.S from the town and its officials, snapped and decided to show them the finger and give them what they deserved, total destruction. He was not greedy, there was no kidnapping or hold up or demand of money. The only person who died that day was Marvin Heemeyer. He caused damage that would have costed a lot of cash to repair for a town that made his life feel like trash and meaningless. Don't play the town's game of saying he was the bad person, like in the "Tread" documentary. We are all human. We all know how bad people can be and in groups of people how bad things can go. I know not all good people would have done what Marvin did. Some would have done worst, some would have admit defeat and left the town. Imagine you trying to make a living, and everyone around you f**king you up. Bullying you around. For 10 years straight, a whole town focused on taking you down. You will understand him and his killdozer. I wonder what happened to the people who wronged Marvin and what was their reaction to the killdozer (o.o'

@@HOORAY4BOOTAY5 see I would never wrong a man trying to live the American dream, so I wouldn't be in danger of him running thru my house. He specifically targeted people that ruined his life with backroom politics and didn't injure a single person during his run. He didn't want to harm people, he only wanted them to feel the pain he felt while being royally boned by small time government monopolized by a few families. And THAT IS WHY he is and will always be my hero.

I have some serious doubt on the validity of the story. Somebody doesn't do that for no reason. But getting screwed over royally would make sense but him just being greedy doesn't quite make sense. That level of dedication seems far beyond a guy being greedy.

Huh? “Killdozer” Had absolutely NOTHING To do with the events related to the hero (Marvin John Heemeyer), who converted his brilliantly modified bulldozer into a statement making wrecking machine! The only life loss was that of Marvin Heemeyer, sadly by suicide. R.I.P. Marvin’🎚 Killdozer! is a 1974 made for TV science-fiction horror movie, adapted from a 1944 novel of the same name by name Theodore Sturgeon. A comic book adaptation appeared the same year, in Marvel Comics' Worlds Unknown. The film has since gained a Cult following.

Not just that, I remember the comments section of the original. People were pointing out inaccuracies left and right, and it was pretty heavily disliked because of how wrong it was. Their response was something along the lines of "we couldn't find enough evidence to support the claims that he was the victim here" I haven't really taken that channel seriously since then.
