Knuckles ability is not that difficult. He just gave a more complex explanation. In short every nen user has a max aura that they can possess. Knuckle borrows some aura with his attacks and the interest is added every 10 seconds. If the amount of aura that is gained is greater then the one you can possess you lose your nen for 30 days. You can fight off the ability by attacking Knuckle back, which gives aura back and "pays" some amount, keeping it from increasing past the max. But that is very difficult since the interest is exponential and his strategy is not to just be there risking to be hit. You would have to keep hitting him with stronger attacks. On the use against the Ants, it is actually great. Although he can only use it om one target at the time, he basically just has to choose a strong opponent, hit him and run away. At some point the Ant will lose his Nen. So essencially can reduce the threat of a strong opponent

Knuckle's ability in short: Punches you and puts you on a timer. You have a max aura in your body. If the number goes over your max aura, you go bust and lose your nen for 30 days. So weaker people go bust fast, stronger people with more nen go bust slower. You can save yourself by hitting Knuckle harder (with more nen) than he hits you

Knuckle's power is actually not that complicated, it just requires explanation to fully understand it but it really is one of the better abilities in the series. it doesn't do physical damage but it's all about aura which is essential for every Nen user so it's never not effective

Great video. DB Z introduced me into the genre. I was so close to visiting Japan one point myself. I had experience with MoCap and in late 2015 I was in contact with Capcom about the facial likeness role of Leon for the Resident Evil 2 Remake. Man I can't believe how much I underrated this arc on my first viewing. Once I actually gave the arc a chance and every time I watch someone react to it, it hits so much harder. There are so many deep and complicated emotions involved that I couldn't appreciate it as a teenager but it hits like a hammer as an adult. 6:06 An important point here is that Gon cannot hurt Knuckle until the debt is repaid. This and a possible Ren Supressor that nullifies aura has the potential to come in incredibly handy against ants. Ever since Kurapika's forced Zetsu on Uvogin we've seen just how much weaker someone gets if you can take their aura output away and Knuckle's ability can do just that. In other words: Knuckle hits you, number gets big, big number bad, too big number = game over. He essentially puts you on a timer you can only delay or stop by hitting him strong enough (aura output). If the number goes past the aura someone has - an arbitrary number - that person goes bust and loses their Nen for 30 days.

Some of which can only be used on the Phantom Troupe. Also another ability that works in tandem with the first is Emperor Time which will allow him to become a Specialist while he uses his Scarlet Eyes, this ability giving him 100% effectiveness in all other Nen Types, an example being he can use the 80% of Manipulation with maximum efficiently.

Knuckle was just explaining how the Aura Points system would work. When he activate his ability on you, the nen attacks you exchange with him is converted in a number on the APR and both of you dont suffer damage. Every 10 seconds, you increase that value by 10%. To give you perspective, every 2 minutes you triple your debt. If he gave you 200 in the first strike, in 2 minutes you would have 600. In 4 minutes, its 1800. If that value is bigger than your "Nen Energy Pool", then you cant absolutely repay him and the APR starts to supresses your nen, becoming that cat like construct. Gon has an max of 21000, which means that a 210 punch from Knuckle will cause Gon to achieve bankrupcy after 8 minutes. The only way to stop Knuckle is to return this aura with strong attacks but he can also just runaway and wait for you to go powerless. TLDR: He hits you with X Aura and starts the interest gain, you now need to return that value before it gets too big for you to pay back. When you go bankrupt, you enter a state of Zetsu (Cant use Nen) for 30 days.

knuckle's ability is actually very powerful, no matter how strong an opponent is if he does it right he can render them basically a normal person with no nen for a whole 30 days. The biggest obstacle with going for stronger opponents is having to wait for them to go bankrupt, if they have an ocean of aura it may take awhile but it will happen eventually and even a god of nen could be rendered pretty helpless. The trick is to make sure he doesn't get his nen payed back to him by getting hit and do it long enough that they go bankrupt, so from when he activates it to when they go bankrupt knuckle needs to either avoid getting hit as much as possible or he just needs to be able to land more hits on his opponent than they do on him, with a very strong opponent they can deliver a lot of nen in a single blow which is risky for him so with an opponent that really outclasses him the best strat is to wait it out and avoid getting hit.

While it is unfair to judge him by human standards (because he is not human and therefore we shouldn't expect him to follow our moral codes) even the other ants, his own people, thought he was ruthless and needlessly cruel, with the only exception being the royal guards. Togashi-sensei always bad at explaining stuffs, you should see how he wrote his story in the manga/comic. It basically just one tiny frame of picture accompanied by HUGE text bubble containing the explanatory or narrative just about one scene 😅 The guy just couldn't make the explanation part more simple LOL Oh and that scene where Killua lost his left eye was indeed because of Shoot's power. He's a Manipulator-type that could control his or his opponent body parts at will (see how he control his own severed hands like some kinda missile?)

A possibly interesting note: Knuckle is an Emitter. He doesn't shoot out aura blasts or anything like that, but like any Emitter his ability is based around emitting his aura out of his body, by lending it to his opponent. It shows how versatile each category is.
