K9999, a character created by Eolith, was a blatant rip-off of Tetsuo from the movie "Akira," and the creators of said movie are not people you want to mess with in terms of copyright. There was a fan-made Spanish fan dub of the movie, which was a work in progress, that got a cease-and-desist letter from the creators. That's how serious they are about their property.

I mean: •K9999 looks like Tetsuo with blue hair •K9999 has very similar abilites to Tetsuo •Most of K9999's quotes come from the manga/anime of Akira •K9999's Attack names are quotes from the movie •K9999's Attack animations are shot for shot from the movie •Both share the same voice actor Also, the guys who owns the Akira IP now are people you do NOT want to mess with. And concidering that SNK went bankrupt once before, they didn't want to take any risks. As much as I like K9999, I can understand his removal.

After KOF 2002, K9999 was still present in the SNK Playmore era. He was doing cameos like in KOF 2003 (PS2 port), '94 Rebout and Days of Memories. He still got official artwork. He appeared in the NESTS Saga Recap video (made by SNK Playmore) He was playable in some mobile games, *KOF X GAROU DENSETSU* and *SNK Dream Battle* (even Nameless was playable in those games) So yeah, the actual SNK just hates K9999

The difference here is that both of them are facing off each other as enemy, not friend/comrade so going with this song isn't right. "Ice Place" represent Kula back when she's still a NESTS killing machine and Angel's presence remind her of those days so i say it's suitable enough.

Okay, I'm just going to point this put, because this misinformation is being spreaded and believed way too much, but K9999 is NOT a copyright liability for SNK. If this were the case, SNK would completely remove him from all ports of KoF 01 and 02, but K9999 is in all ports of those games. K9999 is in the Dreamcast, PS2, and PSN ports of the the 01 and 02 games. If they Copyright issue was the problem, there would be no way K9999s character would be left in future ports of the game, since SNK would be held accountable for distrubiting material that they do not own at all, but it's not the case if nothing has come out of it.
