The King of Fighters '96 playthrough (Neo Geo CDZ, 1CC)

Playthrough with Kyo, Chizuru and Iori. I originally beat this version with the Art of Fighting team, but I found out something a little interesting about this game. In the Neo Geo cartridge version -MVS or AES -there is no way to officially play as the bosses without hacking the game. For the CD version, a boss code was added you have to enter on the character select screen.
If you hack the MVS/AES versions, the bosses are both fully playable without issues, and even have endings. Certain versions, like the PS2 version, have the bosses unlocked by default. The reason I wanted to beat the Neo Geo CD version with this particular team is because the ending was slightly altered -look at the ending here:

Compare that to what's seen in this video. Iori and Kyo are shown finishing Goenitz off using their in-game sprites, rather than cutscene sprite work. Iori's is interesting because it shows off an unused move from KoF '96 which he'd eventually get in KoF '97.
Anyway, as for the game itself, the load times really hurt this one. SNK made a mistake making you fight every team in this game, as it just means a lot of loading. Bear in mind I'm playing on a Neo Geo CDZ, which has improved load times over the original model. If you were playing it on an original Neo Geo CD, I imagine it’d take around an hour to beat this game.

Great job there with the Three Sacred Treasures Team. :) I guess SNK wanted to re-do that last animation with their sprites and felt like they could with the CD version, interesting. :) Again, the CPU decides to throw random opponents your way, with the exception of the '96 Boss Team, who serves as a sub-boss to the bosses of sorts. But LOL I think the game was teasing you with that Neo Art of Fighting team, consisting of Robert, Yuri and Kasumi. :D Again, maybe one day you'll replay this game on the CD with the Art of Fighting team and add it to the extra channel or something? I noticed that audio thing returns from the last game, where a music track can start at the beginning or in the middle of a track. Again the load times weren't too bad, but yeah it takes longer with this game as you have 9 other teams to beat before reaching the sub-boss and the main boss. I wondered if the game would acknowledge Chizuru's deceased sister during the 'literal' mirror match and they did. :)
