The king of Ngāpuhi laid to rest

The king of Ngāpuhi was laid rest today. Te Tii Marae Mangonui was packed with mourners from all walks of life reflecting the wide range of relationship Kingi Taurua nurtured in his 80 years. Hania Douglas was at the funeral and filed this report.

Haere haere haere atu ra Kingi Taurua, you have left a gap that can never be filled and I believe there will never be a Maori politician in todays society in Tai Tokerau can never be as good as you are. Kingi you are in the best care and hands...sending many blessings to the Taurua whanau. God bless

I followed this man from watching many news affairs on television, the great Kingi Taurua. I brought the Mana magazine read the article about his achievements in life. Then I finally met him in person, he was in Rotorua visiting whanau. Just like I've seen Winston Peters coming out of the Ngongotaha chemist when it was located along the main road. I said to Winston Peters "Kia ora Winston I voting for you".

@heminuiraho879 Ko te tupuna taketake o Ngāti Tautahi, te koroua tuawha o Patuone. Both Patuone parents whakapapa back to Rahiri two sons, his father comes off Uenuku, and his mother comes off Kaharau.
