I am a pellet smoker guy still but loved the video. I bought a Yoder YS640S last year and it has been fun to use. Being a native Texan it is pretty sacred here. I have seen others using a mill scale and absolutely loving it. Screw the people that say it is too expensive. 1/4” steel and great build quality come at a price. Not many folks know this, but Sonny Moberg outside of Austin builds in limited quantities a Back yard smoker with the same quality as his BBQ joint 1000 gallon smokers (insulated Fire Boxes, with attached smoke stacks) I bought a 100 gallon two years ago, but now he's building 110 gallons now. Moberg smoker are found in all the big BBQ joints here in Texas. I agree Mills Scale are very nice, I have compared them, however Moberg beats most back yard rigs and he will ship. I was lucky I am located about 45 minutes from Mobergs shop, so I picked mine up. Again this is no dig on Mills Scale, they are very nice and I must say better than the Franklin pit.

I used Pellet grills for a few years and it got me into BBQ, but try as I might I couldn't get that deep of smoke flavor out of the pellet smokers. I finally pulled the trigger on a Workhorse Pit and man has it made a pretty sizable difference in the quality of BBQ I'm putting out. I think Mill Scale is a great product as well. Will be subscribing!

I have a Traeger pro 34, vertical smokey mountain Weber, and a bradley box or chest smoker. I think they all have there place. The Traeger is nice for the ease of use but doesn't seem to have as much of a smoke flavor as my Weber. I do use a smoke tube to help supplement it. My chest smoker is solid pretty easy to use but probably the least used. I like my weber SM it produces the most smoke out of my 3 smokers but it isn't the biggest. So each definitely have there pros and cons. I think this offset smoker will produce a more smokey flavor than the Traeger. But I do love my Traeger just very easy to use. My 15 year old boy has been helping me out and he will only use the Traeger

Would love to hear an update on your thoughts on the smoker. From experience, it takes time to dial-in your cooking technique on each smoker. Also, how’s it holding up in the FL salt air?? Much appreciated!!
@JeremySiers5 ай бұрын
Love it man!! It is by far the best smoker I have ever had. I was pretty use to offsets so this one was pretty easy to get dialed in. It is actually way easier to cook on than some of the other offsets I’ve had in the past due to the larger firebox, large smoke chamber and thicker materials. It just seems to hold temp easier than other offsets I’ve used. It’s pumps out some outstanding bbq if you’re willing to put in the time. As for how it had held up, it’s a tank!! The salty Florida air will cause some surface rust eventually. But I hit it with a scotch brite pad and reapply some boiled linseed oil to the outside about once a year and that seems to be keeping it in great shape. 😎👍🏻
