Welcome to my channel! This is a music reaction channel. For the longest time, I've loved creating content on the internet. I started off with a gaming channel right here on KZbin, which eventually turned into a Twitch gaming channel, but as time has gone on I've evolved into doing other things on KZbin. For years now I've wanted to create a music channel on KZbin, and recently just figured "why not?", so it’s time to give this a go! Give me any suggestion you have for music reactions, and I will do my best to get around to them. As music has fallen further out of my life, I figured this would be a great time to get reintroduced to music.

What an uprising this caused in 1963. Living north of Seattle our relatives in Portland Oregon kept us informed of all the people and even the FBI wanting to ban it as pornography, for words no one could understand, lol. From that time until today all northwest marching bands proudly play it on football fields. What a hoot. Blessings.

In the end, the FBI concluded that it couldn't be obscene, because the lyrics were completely indecipherable.

Ironically Lemmy and Motorhead's cover is said to have the clearest lyric, although he made up the third verse.

Recorded in Mono, With Jack Ely the Singer on His tip-toes to sing into the one overhead Microphone! This song and "Gloria!" were the songs every Garage band had to play! They replaced singer with Lyn Eastman! The Band Toppled the Beatles with their cover of "Money!"which was sold by writer Barry Gordy to both bands! check-out "Money!" by Kingsmen!

Shawn, play the original "Louie Louie" by Richard Berry. Very, very catchy song and the diction is clear.

The CIA and FBI actually had files on this song, unable to understand all the words, they were suspicious of hidden messages.

This was such a MONSTER request on the Oldies radio channels on station played different covers of Louie Louie for a solid 24 hours, apparently trying to make the kids sick of hearing it! Didn't work. The following year they screamed for the station to do it again!😂❤❤❤

In the 60s there was an AM radio station near Detroit that played Shout! by the Isley Brothers over and over, continuously, from 6pm on Friday to 6pm on Sunday. It might have been a "Pirate Station" running extra power because we could get it in Cincinnati...home of the Isley Brothers

Look up the origins of SUNN amplifiers which was started by one of the members of the Kingsmen with the help of his brother in their garage. Because of the time amplifiers weren’t loud enough play Large venues.

Definitely garage sound & such a popular song back then! Covered by soooo many! You mentioned Paul Revere & the Raiders again! Can’t wait till you get to them! “Kicks” .. “Him or me-what’s it gonna be? .. “Good thing” .. “Hungry” .. “Just Like me” …many more & as you read, they also covered Louie, Louie. Thanks for another fun & informative reaction! 😀

Such a fun song. A college radio station in Northern California (KFJC) back in the 80's ran a Louie Louie marathon where they asked for cover submissions of this song from around the world and played all the covers for like a whole weekend. I think there was an accompanying vinyl record too.

Sometimes the vibe is way more important than the words. Exhibit A: Louie Louie😂 Prominent placement in Animal House.

At the time it was released "Louie, Louie" was VERY controversial, because the lyrics were so blurred and indistinguishable. Saw the Grateful Dead in Louisville, Kentucky in the Spring of 1989, and they covered "Louie, Louie" during he show. The crowd went a little nutty. LOL.

The song's author, Richard Berry, seems to have been a popular touring act in the Pacific NW for a minute in the late 1950's. The Kingsmen, from Portland, and other regional bands all played cover versions of 'Louie Louie'. The garbled words came out of the low-rent nature of their recording studio. Mainstream America immediately assumed that the lyrics must be obscene.

@@johnniekight1879 I heard that as well. Which one is right? To quote from Wikipedia ""Louie Louie" is the world's most recorded rock song,[49][50] with published estimates ranging from over 1,600[10] to more than 2,000[51] "with ever more still being released and performed".[52]". If you don't trust Wikipedia the citations are in the article to look up.

To be honest, I NEVER understood the lyrics of songs I heard on the radio, and didn't try to. I listened to the SOUND of the singing, and then, when I bought the record, I read the lyrics off the liner notes. In rock, the words were usually nonsense or very obscure.

Famous already, this song gained evermore fame when it was featured in the 1978 movie Animal House. Threatened with expulsion by the the Dean, the college fraternity decides to go out with a Greek toga party. John Belushi, (original cast member SNL) and his roving eyebrows, steals the scene and the movie. Anyone who’s never seen the movie should check out the movie. It’s an hilarious take on fraternity life in the early sixties!

Great PNW rock. All the groups in Seattle and Portland played this; it was the Kingsmen out of Portland who had the hit (and what a fabulous rendition!). Because the lyrics are so garbled, some people thought they must be dirty. It was banned in one state (I want to say Missouri but I'm not sure) because the governor said it made his ears burn to hear it.

This song was played at every school dance in the 60's and beyond. The Kingsman gave the catchy riff a vocal that was mesmerizing. I do seem to remember the Kingsman with another 45 they came out with. I don't think it was much of a hit. It was The Jolly Green Giant or something like that. However, you mentioned a cover of the song by Paul Revere and the Raiders and while this wasn't one of their hits, they had quite a few garage rock type hits before they went to a more mainstream pop sound. Some early rockers by them to check are Just Like Me, Kicks and Hungry.

Go to the original version by Richard Berry from the 50's. The only thing that was ever dirty about the lyrics was in the sick minds of some of the listeners.

Mushroomhead came out with 2 new songs. One is called “Fall in Line” and the other is called “Prepackaged”. Then the band As I Lay Dying has also 2 new songs. The first one is “Burden” and the other one is “The Cave We Fear to Enter.” Plus check out some of these songs out by Imminence. Some songs like “Continuum”, “Chasing Shadows”, “Alleviate”, “Heaven Shall Burn”, “The Sickness”, “Paralyzed”, “Heaven in Hiding”, and “Ghost”. These bands are amazing. I’m sure you did some of these bands or maybe even all of them. Any of them that you didn’t do. Could you please check the ones you haven’t done yet. I apologize.
