One of the most important bands in Rock history, The Kinks were founded in 1963 by singer/songwriter Ray Davies and guitarist brother Dave in working class Muswell Hill, North London. Part of the British Invasion in the 60s, their off-stage antics pissed off the wrong people in the American music industry, effectively banning them from performing stateside from 1965 to 1969. Over the years, they have battled through family drama, the harsh realities of fame and the coming and going of band mates. They were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1990, their first year eligible.
