I bought one of them new in 1992, black and "cerise" rigid forks of course...ace bike but what a lot of side to side flex at the cranks when you got out the saddle, not surprised to learn later (sold it in 1994) there were issues of cracking around the head tube....brings back happy memories of life pre internet and phones lol!!

Everyone mentions the flex, I'm interested in how the first trail ride is going to feel.

I'm surprised those brake levers take the 6mm oversized housing. Figured those Ritchey levers would be made for the 5mm stuff that was pretty much universally used at that time. That's more of a holdover from the Klunker and early MTB years where motorcycle brake/clutch lebers were adapted to bicycles. I really like the heavier 2mm brake cables. It gives such a hefty and solid feel through the levers. I wish the were easier to source. Velox makes a 2mm cable, but I'm not sure if they're distributed in the US. Another option is to find some universal motorcycle clutch cables which can be had in 2mm cable diameter as well as the 6mm cable housing to go with them.

Ya, I was surprised when they where the larger size. I have a small stash of 2mm cables and matching housing but didn't feel like using it on this build as I prefer to keep that for the older mtbs. I have used the Ritchey levers with modern housing before so these are either an early model or the adjusters were swapped at some point.

Front cantis need to be wired through the cable stop on the fork brace else the brakes will not work obviously due to slack being induced in the part of the cable outside the housing. Save the roller stem for a good old rigid bike

Thanks for the tip, I realized that when I was fiddling with it after I installed the silver stem I was like oh ya I need to use this stop because of the suspension. So it all worked out in the end which is nice.

I love that bike, including those wheels. I'm wondering where can I find one like that?

They do pop up on Ebay every once in a while so I would start there, unfortantly there are none for sale on there at the moment. and also you could check out some of the vintage mtb facebook groups. Hope this helps.
