I did not hype up the race in JA. Like I had said, it's only training and it was outdoors. 6.56s is respectable for his first international indoor 60m. He is getting acclimated to indoors after travelling accross continent and timezones. He won the race under same conditions and potential travel as the other competitors which is why the time he ran has be put in perspective. That's track and field. Winning matters and conditions must be placed in context.

The problem l am having with track and field is the fans . Some channels and fans are only looking at times . Let the runners develop and as fans we need to lower our expectation . All finals are not going to produce a world lead or world record . What really matters is winning the race .

I have to comment here again because of some comments i think are misplaced. The time Kishane ran in Jamaica is correct and has to be taken in context. It was in Jamaica where he is at home in a near 90 degrees temperature. Anyone who ever ran track knows there is a difference when you run in 90 degrees vs 50 or 60 degrees. Secondly, Jamaica doesn't make timing systems nor wind gauges attached to said systems. So anyone who thinks these reading are wrong because they are in Jamaica are ignorant to the sport, plain and simple. I'll remind everyone of what was said in 2008 when Bolt ran 9.76 in the stadium and then ran 9.72 in NY a week later. Somehow the time in Jamaica was questioned but NY time which was a WR was somehow legit. Jamaica uses the same or better timing systems used as other parts of the world. As for the wind reading, I've said look at the time and not the wind reading for an outdoor 60m for many reasons which i won't get into but if you follow track and field as long as i have you'll know why. The time in JA was legit for an OUTDOOR 60m. Now his time at this meet has to be taken in context of travel and also climatic conditions so no surprise on the time. What matters is that he won the race well, relative to his competition. These indoor meets at these cold places are usually cold indoors as well. I've been to two indoor meets here in the US already this year and the temperature indoors was chilly and i had to keep my warm jacket on. All these are factors that come into play when evaluating and comparing times. Time in Jamaica was correct and so too was today's race in the context they were ran.

Jamaica has been consistently producing top sprinters in the world every decade since the 1950s when they formally took up track and field on the world stage. Are you telling me there are people in the world who think Jamaica has faulty timing equipment just because it's a third world country? If anything, Jamaica has some of the best timing equipment and some of the strictest standards for track and field especially sprinting in the world. Anybody who holds any position along those lines does so either out of racism/classism/ethnocentrism or plain ignorance. A country producing the best male and female sprinters of all time, that holds or has held world records in multiple sprint events, produces the most sub-10 times in male 100 meters and the most sub 20 in the male 200 has held the male 100 Metre and 200 Metre world records with more than 2 people each, has women with the top 5 fastest times in the 100 since at least the 90s, won multiple gold, silver and bronze medals, swept the 100 meters women and 200 meters men and has figured prominently as contenders for sprint medals in every Olympics since Helsinki has faulty timing equipment? Anybody who holds that idea is clearly not a true fan of the sport and has no knowledge whatsoever of track and field.

The times ran by Kishane at Kazakhstan were not surprise to me. Considering his history in the 60m and his recent outdoor 60m race, I predicted that he would run somewhere between 6.4 high to 6.6 low, and that's exactly what happened. I think there have been overwhelming expectations from some fans that Kishane would run a 6.4 low or even a 6.3 from one race that was ran outdoors for his indoor season opener. Different atmospheres, different countries, and different conditions all played into each race. I think what Kishane did here in Kazakhstan was good, and I think once again, people need to hold their high expectations to a pause for someone like Kishane for multiple reasons. Firstly, Kishane is still young and very inexperienced competing at international meets compared to other athletes who have been doing so for 5-10-15+ years. Despite this, he still got the victory. Secondly, it seems he still has injury problems that are affecting him. Hopefully, Kishane is able to recover, gets to compete more often pain-free, and builds up towards Jamaican nationals to qualify for the Tokyo Worlds.

No intention to belittle. Wind readings are always an estimate. The technology itself is archaic in my opinion. I have personally run races where the end results and the wind readings did not match. It only matters because that wind reading sent a lot of people into a hypothetical discussion to "calculate" what he might have ran. And those times got faster and faster depending on who was sharing the calculations. That did set expectations that are very high for him, so the hype around this Astana race, matches that speculation.

He's from a country that's warm 24/7 and mildly cool during this time of the year to travel extremely long hours to extremely cold places would f anybody up even a sprinter like him. All excellent points and we are on the same page! Personally, I’m starting to think Kishane’s starts may be taking a little off his top. I do believe he may be able to go sub 6.4, although I am beginning to think his faster starts leave him at 9.7, whereas if he takes a little off that start, we may be able to see his top speed fully do its thing. I feel I’ve learned a lot from that Paris final from hiim…Fred pushed him so had in the beginning that his top speed was nowhere close to Noah’s. However, that Jamaican trials race showed Kishane has amazing top speed, so, I’m wondering how his start and top speed/maintenance will balance out this season.

Don’t think the 60 m matters that much. Bolt was terrible in the first half of races but always made up ground and won in the last 50 meters. Ultimately I think this will help Kishane in the 100’s as it will make him fine tune the first half of the 100 m. But don’t think it’s a crisis if someone as tall and muscular as him doesn’t win the 60 m. This format favors the small lighter guys.

I agree the circumstances of travel in pro track are pretty challenging. Everyone in that race had to travel to Astana for the most part. Indoor track however, exists because the weather is cold outside. So it should have minimal impact on the actual race performance, or even warming up and practicing days before because you do it in a temperature controlled environment. Ultimately in pro track when you run your reputation is on the line. And Kishane won a pro race which should be what matters most... But people seem to care more about the clock than anything else. That is why when he ran a fast clock the week before, some people discredited it as not matching up competitively with indoor times. But those who are Kishane fans are inclined to believe the performance was as dominant as the clock suggested. Here we are a week later and the narrative has reversed. Other athletes around the world, both indoors and outdoors ran faster clocks, and some look for a narrative to explain why Kishane's performance is still "better" because he won. But that clock reading doesn't match up with the claims. Fundamentally the only thing we can trust in track and field is winning. But if that were the belief of everyone, we would celebrate Noah Lyles as the Olympic gold medalist without looking to undermine the victory and say he did not have the "fastest" time of the year. Seems like we as track fans struggle to remain consistent about what matters most to us in the athletes we love and support.

Coach Rob Kishane enter into unfamiliar Territory which is totally a first time him, I’m not going bring up the traveling halfway around the world.. I know because of his speed winning doesn’t mean win for he’s being judged on the way he wins, which is fine for me as a far.. People Eliminate all the possible obstacle’s that might Slightly diminish his Performance that they were anticipated.. Lots of people in Jamaica is totally against him going indoors and risking injuries.. You can forget about seeing him indoors again plus frano and all his former athletes never stay indoors for long thats something he doesn’t believe in..

I understand the climate can have an impact, but I think my comments were just stating the facts about his performance. People have incredibly high expectations for Kishane. I have no doubt he has the talent to win big on the brightest of stages. But in a track and field world where people care about the clock, he did not run as fast as many assumed him to be capable of in that particular race. I have always been a proponent of a track and field world where we care more about winning and competing than simply "fast times". Because times can be somewhat misleading. It appears you agree with me since you are concerned about all the variables that impacted him to run a slower time. If the emphasis from fans of the sport was on winning, it would be a lot easier to focus on that as the main story. I wish that it was, but fans do not seem to agree. Some of the same people who defend Kishane's "slower" time in Astana, are the ones who discredit Noah Lyles for winning Olympic gold, because Kishane had a faster "time" that season. I personally don't think it can work both ways...
