@KnifeLife116 love it bro! You have any Kubey ultem pieces? I'm sure you do, I know it's your thing! I can't recall atm if I have seen any on here! They do an excellent job. I have a Momentum and Coeus, and they did a killer job on the milling. I have the Oknife Rubato 4 in Ultem too, also worth a look if you don't have one! Very Drop Bear- esque, and it's S35VN, Kizer is the OEM so it's sweet!!

I love the looks of PEI/Ultem, however, the first time I used it on a knife, when I dropped it, the Ultem cracked. NO OTHER KNIFE HANDLE I HAVE EVER HAD OR SEEN HAS EVER CRACKED! I think the very first quality a knife handle material should have is toughness. Ultem doesn’t have it.

What are we supposed to do when our new knife cracks within days of buying it (or anytime), and the maker is in China, and there is a severe distance and language barrier?

Man that sucks!! I’ve heard a few horror stories abt Ultem/pei but I haven’t had any issues, I’ve really been enjoying it. I like the way it feels & ultra lightweight. Also heat resistant. Love it when it has micro milling & paired with black liners. I guess it depends on how thick the Ultem/pei slabs are, all mine are pretty thick accept for my ad20.5…it has really thin Ultem tbh I worry abt it sometimes lol thanks bro 🫡🤙🏻🔪

Yeah this can get ugly REAL fast!! 💯 Good thing Kizer has pretty good customer service & most of the retailers now days have really good policy’s for these things. We’ve been around long enough I think they are getting things right were they need to be as far as things like this. Thanks bro!!

The point about being ambidextrous is a biggie, IMHO (and I’m right-handed). Other knife makers sometimes make knives that are totally ambidextrous in their basic design, as in the case of knives with the Axis/crossbar lock, then they provide a clip or mounting holes only for right-hand carry! Knife makers are wasting a financial opportunity, as well as serving lefties poorly, when they fail to make TOTALLY and TRULY ambidextrous knives (at least some of the time, when it works with the design), which can be made with very little additional effort. When the clip is curved, a mirror image clip will be needed for the opposite side, but that cannot be asking too much, to open up 10% of the market!

I totally agree with you brother. I understand on some designs wanting to keep it clean , but on ambi locks they need to be tapped for reversible clips & even if there’s a SLIGHT up charge provide a extra clip OR even make that a option at check out for each personal user 🤙🏻🔪

@@KnifeLife116 The main thing is that in some or many cases, they have to make an additional, mirror-image clip. They’d also have to drill and tap for the left-handed clip. Some companies do offer partial or optional provisions for left-handed carry, e.g. holes partly drilled from behind, so our holes will be correctly located, or the option of left handed holes from the factory. Other companies make both left and right handed versions, e.g. Rick Hinderer. I think I wouldn’t mind having 10% of Hinderer’s market, which he wisely keeps for himself!

These companies need to think outside the box there’s so much for the taking..let’s see wich one wants our money the most 😆
