The knight and the dragon - A tale for sleepy children

In a land where the skies were a fiery hue,
Lived a dragon named Ember, both fierce and true.
With scales of gold that shimmered bright,
He soared through the day and danced in the night.
High on a mountain, his castle did stand,
Overlooking forests and fields so grand.
The people below in villages small,
Told tales of Ember, the mightiest of all.
By day he would sleep, in shadows he'd rest,
His fiery breath kept close to his chest.
But as twilight descended, and stars filled the sky,
Ember would awaken, and up he would fly.
One day from the east, a challenge was made,
A knight called Sir Cedric, with armor and blade.
"I seek to find Ember, the dragon so bold,
To take from his hoard, the treasure of gold."
Through forests deep and rivers wide,
Cedric journeyed with courage as his guide.
He climbed the tall mountain, weary but strong,
Hoping the journey wouldn’t be too long.
At last he arrived at Ember's great gate,
He knocked three times and then did wait.
With a roar and a flash, the dragon appeared,
Cedric stood firm, though he trembled with fear.
"Oh mighty dragon, with scales so fine,
I seek your treasure, to make it mine."
Ember laughed, a sound like thunder,
"Why should I share my gold, I wonder?"
"Prove your worth, brave knight of the land,
Show me your heart, let’s make a stand."
Cedric thought of his village, in need of aid,
Then knelt before Ember, unafraid.
"I seek not for myself, but for those who are poor,
To bring them hope, and open the door."
Ember paused, his eyes turned soft,
A heart of gold within scales aloft.
"Rise, Sir Cedric, your cause is just,
Your bravery earns you my trust."
From his hoard, he took a gem,
A symbol of hope, a precious emblem.
"Take this gift to your village dear,
And spread the joy, far and near."
Cedric bowed and thanked the beast,
Then journeyed back to a grand feast.
The village cheered as Cedric returned,
With tales of Ember, and lessons learned.
For in the land where skies were bright,
Lived a dragon of wisdom, and a knight of light.
