Great sounds. Hearing the M1 described as vintage makes me feel really old, all of a sudden.

For sure! But if it's only for the organ, plenty of other options are available. It's just 4 sine waves, a clicky sound, EQ and chorus. Easy job for the opsix. Kingkorg has a ready to use sample too.
@BellaBell_9 ай бұрын
Thank you for your input There is so much more to this workhorse but for me, this specific sound is everything@@tehedx Thinking about the Opsix
@tehedx9 ай бұрын
@@BellaBell_There is of course a difference, as the M1 uses samples and the Opsix is not sample based. But given how this sound is built, you can make pretty much the same. As for most remakes, in the end mix you don't notice. You could rather look at what the synth does _more_ and whether that suits _you_. For instance, I like FM in general a lot. The (old) KingKorg has a real wide spread of good sound, 61 keys and goes for pretty cheap. That specific organ then is actually a by-product.

When I think of M1 organ, first thing come to my mind is Double You - Please Don't go. p.s. white socks are fun :-)))

Can I showcase your video within my next video? I'm filming a video where I transform a Korg T3 into an M1, using the same presets loaded from a floppy disk. Of course, I'll feature your channel logo and mention you in the video title "feat. #BellaBell" I will also put the links to your video in the description of my video. I remember the very first time i heard the m1 and that was on the commodore Amiga game called Shadow of the Beast.
@BellaBell_9 ай бұрын
Hey James, Thank you for watching! So the M! was featured on the Commodore Amiga? Didnt it have its own sound card?
@jamesmacleod6719 ай бұрын
@@BellaBell_ Yes the Amiga did have it's own soundcard, the shadow of the Beast game was composed using sounds from the M1 (you can hear it on youtube) then it was sampled at 20khz according to Wikipedia. I became a fan of Korg and years later bought the 01Wfd and then the triton and Z1 which I still own. I think Korg have always came up with good innovative synths their new Wavestate and modwave sound the part.
@BellaBell_9 ай бұрын
@@jamesmacleod671 So interesting to hear! Korg Is amazing and Japanese synths as a whole. they were all inspired by each other (Yamaha, Korg, Roland, Akai) and actually were based in the same city (I think Hamamatsu). Good times

I know the Organ on the M! is Sample based. not sure about the Microstation
@grooveskaler83419 ай бұрын
@@BellaBell_From my research i know they are on different "sound creation engines" but some sounds are sample based and they are probably the same. That's why most Korg keyboards sounds very similar and share many sounds.

It was incredibly popular at the time, but perhaps due to being a jack of all trades, it's unclear what it was actually used for.

you men that it's versatility may have made it less associated with a particular genre or style compared to other synthesizers or musical instruments?
