❤ The first time I heard it I was 19 years old and my father had just passed away. My friends and I at the institute had finished our day and were going home in the evening. It was raining heavily and there was a severe cold, so we entered one of the comrades' car and I felt warm. He put this song in the car, so I heard it for the first time, and I felt deep psychological warmth. I did not forget the faces of my comrades, nor the car, nor the whole scene. Today I am 52 years old and I still adore this song with its deep music that makes my eyes tear up and I don't know why. It is deep, deep and boundless neither in space nor in time. Greetings to everyone who is listening to it now. Everyone has a sensitive ear and hearing.❤

I was programming a radio station in Lafayette, LA. and hosting a morning show, and I had just added this song to the station playlist. I was 21, had 2 sweet, beautiful, young daughters age two and one. I was a child myself and I can't believe that my baby daughters are grown, now just under 40 and 39. That really places it in prospective for me as I am almost 60. Where do the years go? Wow.

Every time I hear this song, I'm reminded about the time, back in the late 70's, where I had to work at my busboy job with a fever of 101 degrees. I had tried to call in sick but my boss wouldn't give me the night off because she didn't believe me. And because I was too young to know any better I went in and worked a long eight hour shift. God knows how many people I infected with the flu. It seemed like everything was moving in slow motion, I nearly passed out twice and I heard this song four times that evening. When I finally got home, I slept for twelve hours and still heard this song in my dreams. I never did that again. A few years later, I got sick again. It was a different job and boss but he wouldn't believe me either. "I'll bet you're faking it,"he accused. I was ready this time. "You got me mixed up with your wife,"I retorted. I had so many co-workers laughing when I came back. Asshole had me on speakerphone.

Just discovered this particular video & this is no BS wind-up. The guy playing the violin is Stuart Gordon, twin of Keith, both of them originally from Bedlington in Northumberland. How do I know this, well, their late mother Joyce was my late father's cousin. She was married to Jim Gordon, a funeral director who passed on many years ago, I don't remember exactly how long. The business still exists at the top of Bedlington Main Street, I think now run by the Cooperative Funeral Service. After Jim's death,Joyce re-married to one Alan Proud. As a kid living near Alnwick in Northumberland, we visited Bedlington regualrly & I was always very envious of their musical talent, of which I have absolutely zero. It's been a long time since I last met Stuart & obviously will never do so again, but I met Keith at my father's funeral in 2014. I never made it to his mother's funeral due to work commitments. His mother's sister was called Muriel & she passed away some time in the last year or two, most recently living in Whitley Bay. Stuart was probably the most accomplished musician I've ever known & the musical gene has been passed on down the years, skipping my generation, but has manifested itself in my 2 kids. My son is a senior IT software engineer & is an excellent pianist & cellist, both of which he still plays to a high standard when family commitments allow. My daughter is a freelance vocal coach & choir administrator based in the Tynedale area & along with her husband are members of the BBC Choir of the Year 2016, Voices of Hope. Her husband was, until standing down a year ago, musical director of that choir & still runs several choirs based in & around Wylam. As of now, obviously all face to face meetings and performances are off, but they still hold regular virtual choir sessions. RIP Stuart, one of the finest musicians ever to walk this earth.

JPC JPC 16 hours ago This song is also special to me when it came out in 1980 and listening to it in between played John Lennon songs on the radio on that terrible night John Lennon was murdered. I ended up staying up all night glued through my stereo console the old floor model that also had a built-in cassette recorder, recording news reports about John Lennon's death in the evening after I got home from the second shift job. That's what makes this song special more also because I got married that year. So when I hear this song which brings back more memories than one I also think of John Lennon. And for some reason this song popped into my head yesterday not even thinking about it for many years so I looked it up here on KZbin. And it just brought back those memories from 1980. Sad and good ones.
