Correction towards the end regarding paychecks, while most companies are paying out mostly due to labor laws. Because hours aren't tabulated properly due to this hack their seems to be big discrepancies in how much people should be paid in regards to the hours they've worked (especially overtime). It's illegal for them to not pay you if they did not keep track of your hours then you tell them how many hours you worked and it's on them to prove otherwise. It was on you to make them pay though and it would likely take as long as it did for them to get a paycheck to you anyway because they would already be working to avoid a situation like that. An operation this size you are looking at hundreds of terabytes of data spread across hundreds of terminals. With customers signing up, falling out, changing locations, updating both local and cloud by the day, by the hour and by the minute it is more or less impossible to keep accurate restore points, even for localized data like time cards. When anything affects a setup like this network wide it is big trouble. They really are at the mercy of attackers when it becomes a ransomware scenario. There is no simple resolution.

When it first happened, they just copied the last check we received correctly, and gave that to us 3 weeks in a row. If we were overpaid, they will collect their dues once the system is back up. Well damn, when I looked at the time frame that Muta put up, it lines up to when my job switched to the local method of making schedules and payroll rather than using the server we used on the internet browser. I thought, seeing how corporate usually are a bunch of idiots, wanted to fix something that isnt broke, wanted to do this instead to just cut costs, as they would. We were never told that Kronos was actually hacked! Its crappy to know that the software that handles my paychecks has been compromised from the mouth of another person (all respect to Muta) rather than from corporate themselves. Then again, I work for a shady business practice of a company anyway.

U would think that all companies would be doing this as a safety measure. Payroll and schedule are the most important things for a business with employees. It shocks me some businesses are just not paying employees or are guessing at pay instead of taking responsibility for their business and doing it right. Idk what we use at work but I haven't been affected by the hack. We print our schedules out every week and for the most part if we switch days with others, it gets changed on schedule. It's common sense to me. Guess it's not that common. Glad to hear it not being affected by this very much. I feel sad for other people who aren't getting paid or are getting screwed on overtime, holiday pay. Everyone's w2 are going to be way off.

The first week, every hourly employee in our company was paid 40hrs with an adjustment to follow the next correct week. We've since been writing down our times, storing them on a local spreadsheet, and then forwarding them up the chain until payroll gets them. It's a lot more work for store management, but luckily we have all adapted really quickly.

Muta is the cyber version of a doomsday prepper. You don't need to run virtual machines within virtual machines. Using multiple VPNs and proxies. While obsessively keeping up with the latest cyber security news. It's like your house, you lock your doors but most don't have bars on their windows, a state of the art security system, bullet proof windows, metal doors, and a mini gun next to their beds. If you don't want your shit stolen online try not to put it online or store it online. Run an antivirus and update your software. Your not going to get personally hacked except by ransomware which a decent antivirus can prevent. It's the businesses that get hacked most often. They need to worry about keeping up with cyber security.
