Correction towards the end regarding paychecks, while most companies are paying out mostly due to labor laws. Because hours aren't tabulated properly due to this hack their seems to be big discrepancies in how much people should be paid in regards to the hours they've worked (especially overtime). Make sure you're paid what your owed. Check out our Podcast here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/g3-qmnuHbLKqZrc Use code "SOG" to save money at www.gfuel.com

My employer was victim of this attack on Kronos. The first payday after the attack, I literally didn't get a paycheck that week. It was so stressful. We now have to manually log our hours. I wasn't the only one that didnt get paid correctly either. It also screwed up our scheduling method too. Nobody knows how long this is gonna last. I'm so scared that I'm gonna miss another paycheck again. I literally live paycheck to paycheck and I don't make enough to have a substantial savings, just enough to get by.

It's illegal for them to not pay you if they did not keep track of your hours then you tell them how many hours you worked and it's on them to prove otherwise. It was on you to make them pay though and it would likely take as long as it did for them to get a paycheck to you anyway because they would already be working to avoid a situation like that. If I had a darker world view I'd bet that some of the highest paid people not on salary still got paid.

My grandpa was in the hospital at the end of the year and one of the head nurses that came in to check his medicine was talking about this while we were chatting with her. Essentially, they're down to using old punch cards to clocking in/clocking out as the hospital was built during the time of people using punch cards and the machines were still there - they just needed to be repurposed. So now everyone clocks in just like they did 30 years ago.

An operation this size you are looking at hundreds of terabytes of data spread across hundreds of terminals. With customers signing up, falling out, changing locations, updating both local and cloud by the day, by the hour and by the minute it is more or less impossible to keep accurate restore points, even for localized data like time cards. When anything affects a setup like this network wide it is big trouble. They really are at the mercy of attackers when it becomes a ransomware scenario. There is no simple resolution.

As someone who works for a company that uses kronos, I can say without a doubt. This is the most bunk ass shit ive ever dealt with. We dont even get punch cards, we write our shifts down on a piece of paper. God forbid someone lose it we are fucked. When it first happened, they just copied the last check we received correctly, and gave that to us 3 weeks in a row. If we were overpaid, they will collect their dues once the system is back up. If we were underpaid, get fucked because they aint gonna do the math to figure out what they owe.

That would be illegal of them to do. It’s their responsibility to pay you every single penny that you earned no matter what. If you can prove they are underpaying you, report it. Doing the math to figure out how much employers owe their employees in wages is payroll’s _job._

What's even worse is that I've been hearing some places will refuse to even give holiday pay because there is no documentation of hours worked. So for all the people that spent the holidays working their asses off away from family wont even be properly compensated for it. If your place of employment doesn't care about compensating workers when something like this happens then I'd say quit. It's a scheduling/documenting system that's down, not the government holding your pay and it's on the place of work to find a solution.

I’m a bakery worker and also a barista with Whole Foods and we use Kronos. The fact that I already sign myself out to close certain departments when I clock out from work since I’m a closer. The fact that we have to write our time stamps when we go in and in-n-out for lunch and then do it on paper and then also do it on another site to record our hours is a pain in the ass. But that’s our situation. We went back to writing our hours in pen and paper and also in the computer to make sure we get paid for the hours.

I tried logging on to my company's Kronos site to clock in but it wasn't loading, which wasn't too surprising considering it would be down once in a while. Then we got the first e-mail about the cyberattack, and we all kind of laughed at how insane it was that something like that was happening. Then we got like 3 more e-mails within the hour and that's when we knew it was serious. Lucky for us my company's CIS department built a clock in site on the fly which took about a week. It's not amazing, but it gets the job done.

I thought, seeing how corporate usually are a bunch of idiots, wanted to fix something that isnt broke, wanted to do this instead to just cut costs, as they would. We were never told that Kronos was actually hacked! Its crappy to know that the software that handles my paychecks has been compromised from the mouth of another person (all respect to Muta) rather than from corporate themselves. Then again, I work for a shady business practice of a company anyway.

U would think that all companies would be doing this as a safety measure. Payroll and schedule are the most important things for a business with employees. It shocks me some businesses are just not paying employees or are guessing at pay instead of taking responsibility for their business and doing it right. Idk what we use at work but I haven't been affected by the hack. We print our schedules out every week and for the most part if we switch days with others, it gets changed on schedule. It's common sense to me. Guess it's not that common. Glad to hear it not being affected by this very much. I feel sad for other people who aren't getting paid or are getting screwed on overtime, holiday pay. Everyone's w2 are going to be way off.

While obsessively keeping up with the latest cyber security news. It's like your house, you lock your doors but most don't have bars on their windows, a state of the art security system, bullet proof windows, metal doors, and a mini gun next to their beds. If you don't want your shit stolen online try not to put it online or store it online. Run an antivirus and update your software. Your not going to get personally hacked except by ransomware which a decent antivirus can prevent. It's the businesses that get hacked most often. They need to worry about keeping up with cyber security.
