Here the contestants didn't get Sondheim but in the U.S. version they knew he wrote "Pacific Overtures."

Really interesting to find this clip, I remember watching this final in New Zealand just after New Zealand screened their first season of The Krypton Factor in 1987. I am actually wondering when this was actually filmed as I am sure I remember seeing this just a week after NZ finished screening the 1987 series which was in October 1987 just short of six months before this aired. Something also I remember was a comment from the New Zealand competitor was how in NZ you only get wet on the assault course if you make a mistake. I should also point out the 1987 series in New Zealand was a NZ & Australia contest totally filmed in New Zealand produced by TVNZ. Later series in New Zealand were NZ only, not sure what Australia did after this. Our final season was in 1991.

I would have in the Australian series if it switched to the 7 Network/Australian Television Network as the presenter any one of Drew Morphett, Sandy Roberts, Peter Landy, Garry Wilkinson, Mike Raymond,

One point for general knowledge??? Rubbish! How is anyone supposed to catch up!!! It was always 2 points!! All Alison had to do was answer nothing to win!!
@davidgoodliff44865 жыл бұрын
It was two points per correct answer initially Hazel but one particular contestant ruined a whole series by ONLY being good at that round and overturning being useless at everything else so they felt they had to change it.

It's the naffest round, glad they can't catch up having not been good at the other round!

David Goodliff It was always 1 to begin with, then after this International, the 1988 series became the first to change it to 2 points per correct answer.

@@davidgoodliff4486 Of course in the early days GK was two or three minutes depending how much time was left in the episode so numerous questions were asked. Then each contestant was asked three questions, each two points, followed by a 90-second tossup round for +/- 1 per question. From 1986 onward, it was just the tossup round. Perhaps they should have had a limited +/- 2 speed round all along.
