This is actually one of their b-side(1st pre-release). They're going to release their 2nd pre-release MV "None of My Business" on 24th July and their Title Track "Cake" on 31st July. Stay tune 😁

Overall, its such a good but emotional music video. Yuna's part signifies the hate she had gone through in checkmate era, Chaeryeong comforting her wounded self, Ryujin breaking free from her comfort zone, Lia locking herself metaphorically in a box, Yeji can't stop running- since she's the leader of itzy, she feels that she cant take a break. Honestly one of the best itzy mvs for me. It's simple but very impactful.

"Bet on me" is Itzy's version of "Feel Special". JYP made sure to custom the song to their concept of self love/self empowerment and gave us another masterpiece. If you can make me bob my head while tearing up reading the lyrics you have my eternal respect and that man has done it twice. Hands down my favourite Itzy song and M/V. I feel so blessed as a JYPE GG supremacist with all the releases lately. All my girls are killing it.
@incheonguy

It's not feel special. Feel special is a fan song, singing about the fans. It was not even totally written by JYP he re-wrote the song they purchased. MIDZY/Trust Me is ITZY's Feel special. You guys keep repeating this on every reaction and it is so far from accurate it's not even funny.
@Eluthien
@Eluthien Жыл бұрын
@@incheonguy Both songs came in a time where both group members were under presure and increasing , often unbased , critisism. Both songs talk about how they feel and how they overcome this type of presure. Both songs are upbeat but have dark and deep lyrics. And even if JYP rewrote or had part in a team effort his name is still in both songs lyrics and production. Happy now as to how I personally connect the two songs? Also sorry to burst your bubble but "Trust me" is Itzy's "21:29". "Feel Special" was NEVER a completely fan dedicated song. It was a mix about their sisterhood and being there for each other which in parts can be translated as a fan dedicated song. 2 birds with 1 stone. I can debate this all day long. (not literally since I have a life , a job and a house to run)

The thing I found so interesting about Yeji was that her inner world is literally just a void. For Chaeryoung, at least we could tell her conflict was with different versions of herself. But with Yeji, there were no tangible objects in the shot. She didn’t know what exactly the problem was or what problems there could possibly be. Despite it all though, she still has the COURAGE to keep running. Trusting herself that whatever challenge she does run into, she’ll overcome it. And I think you might’ve missed this but- in the end, she runs full speed and does that amazing jump off the cliff into the abyss STILL trusting every fiber in her being that she’ll make it out alive. So I guess we could say Yeji’s inner conflict is with uncertainty in general. And as ITZY’s leader, that makes total sense. She runs in front and sets an example to encourage the rest of the members to eventually catch up. She sets the pace? so to speak? and since the fear of uncertainty in general can be applied to all the members or their characters- i think it’s quite fitting that Yeji plays that role and represents that concept.

i think yeji's hoodie has symbolism too. she keeps running because leaders are often pressured to not be as vulnerable to effectively lead the group - she pulls her hood up to start running. as it cuts to her running in the void, her hood falls, but she keeps running, which to me symbolises that she can't stop leading when she herself is struggling, and she perseveres to lead the way for the others when they are ready. in the end she makes the jump and continues running with her hood down which i think represents the balance of keeping to her duties but remaining authentic

the fact that PD along with a lot of other people think "bet on me" is the actual title track just proves how bad jype's marketing is. their whole social media team should be fired, they don't even post the teasers as posts on instagram, really hope something will change for the better because the girls are so deserving...

The most noticeable thing about this video for me was how toned down it was. There's no choreo, no wacky extravagant styling, just a pretty chill and real vibe. It was like they decided to go 'Itzy casual' and it makes the song hit harder.

as an itzy fan from debut, this song is exactly what i wanted from them in terms of concept and theme. musically, i like the song, it's not my favorite of them but it's great. but the most important thing is the concept and the message. as you said, pd, their few latest releases felt strange. they used to have a very well established concept, but that disappeared and wasn't replaced by anything. it felt like jyp ent had no idea what direction to go with itzy. not that the songs and mvs were bad - the sneakers album might be my favorite album from them. but something just didn't fit. and the kpop community (especially the international one) started their hate campaign. i can only imagine how difficult that must've been for the members - seeing all the negative feedback only to get hate again for the next release. bet on me is great because it's a more genuine, evolved version of their self love concept from their rookie days. i personally liked itzy's self love concept, but it only went one way in my opinion, it was a little shallow, not acknowledging the ugly parts of self love and self care. this is different. it's fresh, it's raw. loving yourself isn't easy, the way to happiness isn't easy. you can't just start loving yourself one day. it takes time and practice and there are day where you just can't do it, you don't believe in yourself. i'm glad that itzy is showcasing this. they're definitely on the right track. i just hope for the kpop fans to start thinking critically and stop hating. i hope itzy gets the support and love they deserve.

Yeah, this is my favorite song from ITZY since Wannabe. Not that they've been making bad music, but I think PD is right in that ITZY has been riding a certain sound for too long it was time for them to change it up. I think bigger messages, personal statements, and darker themes have become more and more common as of late, thanks to the pioneer girl groups who basically gambled it all on the chance to actually say something meaningful. (Mamamoo, Dreamcatcher, and (G)I-DLE come to mind). I still think we're in a transition stage, but if big groups like ITZY and NewJeans can talk about their feelings (aside from young love / love loss) then I think it's a step forward. Hell, MISAMO just did a song about consent. The TWICE girls. So yeah, while there have been deeper songs in the past, they weren't being done by the top groups in such an up front way until recently. Now this could be a trend like anything else in K-pop, but it also can be growth. Maybe Korea is finally acknowledging that girl groups can be more than just school girls and cheerleaders.

5:50-6:15 Couldn't say it better myself. ITZY's music still one of the absolute best in k-pop today (god tier imo) but JYP been doing them 'dirty' by not promoting their music enough. Which pisses me off a little bit. All we can do about it is to promote and share their music ourselves as Midzy.

I agree with your input about the meaning behind the MVs and messages it was like their own struggles or doubts they had and how they had to overcome it after those two eras. Also yeji has said before that she wouldn’t talk about her feelings or worries a lot in the past with the members but slowly has opened up about them. As the leader it shows how she starts running and through all the chaos storms continues to look forward and not give up and the members follow her as they also don’t give up and look forward to the future. Also the train yuna is on feels like the hate train they got during the last few years and even shows pictures of yuna from previous eras so there’s a lot to unpack there.

ITZY~ I appreciate you reacting to Bet On Me before their title track release later this month. This song easily sends out a self-enriching message to MIDZYs and people who stumble upon them. It's such a bonus that they put out this song and reminds me of "Trust Me: MIDZY" and "Domino". People are too focused on Yeji running instead of the message of why she was running and how the members followed through. Did they even notice that the video didn't have choreography and dance moves? It's a song and video to convey a meaningful, but uplifting message. Classic ITZY.

In the mv, Yeji's weakness and her fear was to keep going on. Unlike the other girls who had to face themselves to get rid of that fear, Yeji just had to keep running. In the end, the girls run alongside her. In a way she's still running endlessly, but now finally, she's not running alone.

11:44 You can see she looks around the room at the photos at herself and stops at the checkmate photo solely bcs that might represent how much hate she got in that era, not just accusations of being a 'pick me' but also her weight dropping and everyone judging her body & maturity. But shes risen above that and she can bet that her members have her back

I feel like Yeji scenes also convey struggles and are represented as dark and not very clear paths as she is running but as the leader she is very determined and focused from the start because she knows her role as a leader. At times in the later scenes she seems to struggle to keep running but she never stops and even at the end she courageously jumps into a void, like I don't care what's ahead I will not stop fighting 🙀💪 Also she is the first to start running and then she is in the train with Chaeryeong picking up Yuna and then the others as well 🥰 A great leader indeed and all they follow 🏃‍♀🏃‍♀🏃‍♀🏃‍♀🏃‍♀

I think that YEJI running the whole vid signifies that because she's the leader, she has to keep it together almost all the time. The members look up to her and depend on her a lot so she has no choice but to keep moving and fighting (it's like she's the glue that keeps them together). This mv still makes me emotional to this day. As a midzy for 3 years now, I've seen how ITZY became one of the most loved to becoming one of the most hated, so hearing this song definitely hit home ❤

@@CarterLa_14 So true and i think its those two portrayed in such a sense because yeji is the leader and chae had trained the longest. She's been through judgements the longest even when she was a trainee. Even what the group debuted people critiqued her mostly. From her dancing to her appearance. So she knows how it feels. When other members were starting to get hate she's could help them through it. Yeji doesn't get a break as a leader and that shows in the mv. When chae joins her you actually if you look really closely her facial expression relaxes slightly as if she's is relieved that the members are with her. Also if you notice the order the girls are joined in on the running it goes leader, member that trained the longest, the groups center, the vocalist and then the youngest. Perhaps there was a reasoning for that.

in regards to Yeji's scenes i think it could go to demonstrate her enduring nature and strength as a leader to be a role model for her team and that she is always there for them to follow when they need direction or a guide. i also think that that running also in a way was her solo scene, that leap was her overcoming that challenge to believe in and choose herself and it is after that leap that chae appeared beside her, i dont think that was a coincidence, they all had hurdles it is just that Yeji was the only one who kept moving forward and didn't stand still which in a way is a beacon for the other members.

I was really mad at Itzy's haters when they blasted Sneakers and Cheshire. Those songs were FUN! Somehow, none of those idiots remembers how to have fun. Being haters, they don't deserve to ever have any fun. Those jerks, trolls, thugs and bullies did it to themselves. I hope they stay mad. They will continue to be losers for life if they can't figure out that getting along with people is important to their own survival. They won't last too long if they don't figure it out at some point. 'Darwin Award Winners!' For everybody else who actually have fully-functional brains and can feel empathy, this song and MV is REALLY COOL! I got a little bit teary when Chaeryeong found herself down, hurt and crying; that really hurt me. I know that feeling, so it really is relatable. Sometimes, we even beat ourselves up worse than anybody else could. But haters also suck and can hurt people emotionally. Haters certainly won't be around to apologize and pick you up again after they knock you down, you have to do that yourself (and hopefully with the help of friends). So this message is AMAZING for its depth and because it is a Human-Race-wide thing, EVERYBODY can relate to it (except for the goddamned idiot trolls and bullies of course). This song ROCKS! The social commentary is amazing, it's just as awesome as some stuff that DreamCatcher has done! I LOVE IT! :)

Was waiting for your reaction... excellent analysis!! As a big JYPE supporter/Midzy/Once/MyDay/Stay... i agree that Itzy's marketing hasnt been up to par. The quality and quantity could hsve been a bit better.

Hm, I really liked that. Itzy seems to get in a direction where I'll start to listen to everything they put out to see, if I like that.

Im not a fan of the group but they have some fun songs I appreciate. When I saw this… damn! It really is a punch of emotions you don’t generally see in kpop. actually Id say not even pop in general. That’s why my first impression when I heard this was “this is a freaking indie rock song!”, it felt like if was listening to Stereophonics, Travis, Blur and the likes. lol

This was a great pre release while i wish it got a little bit more attention. So im looking forward to the new album and hope KILL MY DOUBT delivers bc i think 2022 was a rough year for them regarding there concept so this is a very important comeback for them. I can say that so far this is going to be a great era

Yeji running the whole time as her solo scene could be indicative that she's expected to just endure?

or maybe its her enduring nature and in a way a role model for the other members to believe in themselves and endure as well together

I’m so happy to hear you say they are the best in the business because I’ve felt the same way myself !! But when you look at their marketing and their concerts …. Their concerts look like they are always performing at a festival compared to the concerts of blackpink. It’s such a shame JPY doesn’t go bigger on there concerts.

This music video makes me cry or tear up almost every time I watch it. Can anyone explain why Yuna's solo spotlight is during Checkmate era? One of the reasons I've been on and off with the K-Pop industry is because of how cruel it is, so I'm a bit out of the loop.... Now I've grown up into my adulthood, I have learned how hard life is emotionally and am starting to realize how difficult it is career-wise. ITZY pours themselves into their work physically and obviously endures mental strain over their position in the K-Pop industry, especially with so many "power rookies" coming through. It's a title they once claimed for themselves. "Bet on Me" is a statement that they will have to and should continue to choose themselves despite there being competition. It's a statement for the rest of us too, especially with the rates of mental health issues among us. This music video really is a form of therapy to me, so I totally agree with your rating! 11/10

This song and MV is beautiful I’m glad they’re going this route this cb I knew this couldn’t be the title track it’s a pre release. I love that K-pop is doing these multiple mvs for a cb so many bsides deserve more attention and love and helps the artist as well. I totally agree that Itzy has outgrown that teen bop sound but Jyp doesn’t seem to know where to go from there. With how emotional and raw this pre release was I really hope the title track doesn’t focus on being too crazy and bright.

After seeing the Bet on Me showcase with the choreo this really should have been the title track. But they wanted to be TikTok friendly, which I understand. But this really means something.

bet on me is a b-side not the title track but it emphasize the emotions that itzy have been goning through ( hate + self doubt + criticism + losing confidence, etc ) since MITM epically during sneakers & cheshire i feel like it's a prefect song to start an era however ITZY also will be releasing NONE OF MY BUSINESS ( also a b-side ) on the 24th of this month + the album & the title CAKE will be out on 31th. just wanna let you know cuz yes jyp's promo is trash everyone thought BOM is the title

This is actually a prerelease b-side it’s not the title track👍 the title track is ‘CAKE’ & it’s dropping July 31st with the rest of the album KILL MY DOUBT. Another pre release, another b-side is None of my Business and dropping july 24th I believe. And the album spoiler is dropping very soon, we’ll hear a snippet of the title track finally!!
