A little simpler (in my mind at least) is to duck the MonA circuit in it's entirety. You can still make use of mix to mon or not if you prefer. Patch the MonA circuit into a dedicated stereo matrix labelled "MonA". Because there is channel processing on this matrix, you can do the ducking here. Create a mono sub mix of the com mics (spare aux or spare mono matrix is doesn't matter) to be used as the side chain key source of the compressor on this matrix. To facilitate internally patching this duckable "MonA" matrix to another "com" matrix containing the com mics, we have to patch this MonA matrix down a spare stereo input channel via a bypassed plugin such as the time adjuster which in this case is arbitrary. Any plugin will do. Patch this stereo input channel to another "com" matrix containing the com mics then out of this matrix to your monitoring hardware (IEM transmitter etc). All this would be a lot easier if the internal patching was a little more flexible as it is with some other desk manufacturers. Or even better if there was a software insert point on the monitor circuits themselves so we could insert a ducker straight on it and send that straight to the com matrix. But hey. Always up for an internal patching challenge.
