In XOXO's MV ending, u can see Somi's planning every move of the whole MV storyline in her book (happy ending?) and in DUMB DUMB , the whole MV portrays the real happy ending, hence the "happy ending" hope this helps a tiny bit 😆

Sixteen is the show that formed the group Twice. She was eliminated on the finale but remained with JYP. Later after taking part in some other competition groups like I.O.I she was actually slated to be in Itzy, but eventually decided to drop from the group and go solo with the Black Label.

Fun fact: the officer in the XOXO music video was played by her dad 😉 She called him impromptu on the day and asked if he’d be willing to do a quick scene. It’s in her reality show I Am Somi (don’t remember which episode)

Fun fact, her dad appeared in the Korean reality TV show "Real Men 300"! He even talked about Somi on the show and she and her sibling appeared for a scene or two too. I was so excited when she finally got to debut and all I could think about was how proud he must have been :)

as someone who has been following somi since a bit after produce 101 and ioi, i truly believe somi is one of the most well rounded idols. :> At the age of 14 somi joined JYPEs survival show SIXTEEN and got eliminated at the finals, at the age 15 she joined PRODUCE 101 where she won first place and became the center of the iconic group I.O.I. she was extremely popular, mnet shows esp the produce series were a big thing, with millions of people watching and she got the first place with 850k votes! Somi after that joined Sister’s Slam Dunk and debuted again in a group called Unnies, more of an entertaining group (disbanded 2017). After all of that she went into a hiatus and we had a long time to hear from her until we learnt in 2018 that she parted way with JYPE and eventually joined the Black Label. Today Somi is just 22, its kind of crazy thinking how she already has been in the industry for 7 years!

a lot of kpop stans have been so harsh on her and her muaic but tbh, she's one of the few kpop soloists that i actually still enjoy listening to their whole discography. she gave good songs. people had prejudice about her voice which i think clouded their enjoyment but her songs are good, even her bsides.

Sixteen was the show that "created" Twice. So she narrowly missed being in Twice AND Itzy. I would definitely leave my company too if I was as popular as she was because of PD101 but they kept holding off a debut.

Birthday was such a smart and captivating debut for Somi. I pretty much immediately loved her personality from that video. I've personally yet to find a Somi song that I love love. Moment of mental health support from someone who also struggles with negative self talk - noticed you speaking negatively about yourself around 14:50 and then catching yourself and self correcting. Good for you! You are super pretty so don't second guess it! This was a fun video! I am only really a casual Somi fan, but upon watching this I am gaining a new appreciation for her work seeing it all condensed like this and getting a feel for it as a whole. I really like this format and I've said it before but I really appreciate the way you consume media and music. You have a really good critical eye for details and what makes something special in relation to other things but while also letting yourself enjoy things in a really pure way. Looking forward to more of these videos!
