DJ is not a good perimeter defender and I'd say Trae is just as good a defender at the POA as DJ, which isn't saying much. DJ being in the team has pushed Trae to become a better defender which he has but DJ's defence is weak. He's been great on offence for the Hawks but a major disappoinment on defence.
