Dzongu is a place in North Sikkim that is solely reserved for the original natives of Sikkim - the Lepchas.
To enter Dzongu, one need to have a permit which is easily available.
For stay there are a number of basic homestays which provide basic accomadations.
The food is simply, homely, organic and tasty. The home made wines are superb.
Lingthem, the place we stayed in Upper Dzongu is a very peaceful place, full of greenery, and birds.
There is a beautiful monastary, some great hikes, a hotspring and ofcourse the majestic view of the mountains along with Mt. Kanchenjunga.
The people are simple and friendly.
Overall, Dzongu is for those people who love a bit of solitude and often search for offbeat loactions devoid of much tourist.
