This is probably one of the most ambitious projects I've ever done. It only took about two hours of recording, with 120 attempts to get this. My fingers are crying out for help. Original music composed by Nobuo Uematsu

@AntonBetita2 жыл бұрын
Thank you! The technique I do at 2:53 is basically slap harmonics. It's probably not as unique as it seems. In fact, I feel like it gets unnecessarily overused by a lot of fingerstyle guitarists lol. But this was one of the rare occasions where I felt like it was appropriate to go crazy with slap harmonics 😆
@LoneTreePeak2 жыл бұрын
@@AntonBetita Thanks for the information. In any event I thought it was amazing and it went well with getting me pumped up watching the video haha. Maybe I'm just not familiar with watching people play as much but I thought you displayed passionate playing, which I why I find your covers so unique aside from how well you play the melodies. I feel like you put a lot of flair into it for lack of a better term. You make it seem so easy and fun at the same time. It displays a lot of character in your style. I'm like a super fan now in short time no kidding! Do you have a personal favorite Final Fantasy game?
@AntonBetita2 жыл бұрын
@@LoneTreePeak Thank you, I really appreciate those compliments. Hard to say what my favorite final fantasy game is nowadays, but I'm starting to lean towards FF14, which is not unexpected I suppose 😅
@LoneTreePeak2 жыл бұрын
@@AntonBetita You're welcome and thanks for the answer. I'm always curious as to which FF artists enjoy the most. There are so many it's hard to choose 1.
@AntonBetita2 жыл бұрын
@@LoneTreePeak yeah absolutely. I'm actually not that well versed in the final fantasy franchise as a whole. Most of what I know are limited to FF4, FF8, FF9, and now FF14. And all of those have excellent music that I want to cover so much of. FF14 happens to have the biggest soundtrack of all of them though so it's given me a lot of options as far as covers lol. FF14 also does lots of throwbacks to older games, including remixes of old themes. So imagine my surprise when I heard tracks from ff4, ff8, and ff9 play in 14 as well.

This cover is unreal man. Listened to tons of acoustic guitar vgm covers and am only just now discovering you. Dang KZbin algorithm! On a side note, I am about to get back into playing acoustic guitar seriously, and want to learn to play like you. How did you learn to play how you do? Are you self-taught? Wondering if I should get a classical guitar foundation/what steps I should take to learn this percussive/fingerstyle style. You're an inspiration man, thank you
@AntonBetita6 ай бұрын
Thank you for the kind comment! You are correct, I am mostly self-taught. I never took classical lessons or anything so I'm not really sure if a classical foundation is what you'd need to be able to do this stuff lol. But I CAN tell you the foundation I use for my arrangements; chords. It's mostly just knowing the chords, and then trying to figure out everything else from there. My instrumental fingerstyle journey started when a cousin of mine showed me how to find melody notes based on chords. Most of the time, the notes to the melody fall just around the area of the chord shape that you're already fingering, and you just have to move a couple fingers around to get them. Of course, the actual process of doing that is not as simple as I'm making it sound here, but that is the overall concept and foundation that guides me through my arrangements, even to this day.
@JK-vf2hp6 ай бұрын
Thank you so much for the long in-depth reply. Awesome advice - I will try implementing this. Do you know some basic music theory to help with arranging or do you mostly arrange by ear?
@AntonBetita6 ай бұрын
@@JK-vf2hp yes, I know a little bit of theory, but mostly just basic stuff. Most of the time I arrange by ear after I get the chords. But there are times when figuring out the melody by ear gets confusing because it's either too fast for me or there are multiple layers of melodies happening or something. If I had music sheet available for the song/piece in those instances (like I had for this song), then I look at the notes on the sheet to learn the melody. So it helps to be able to read the staff sometimes. You don't have to be fast at it (unless you're trying to sight-read while playing), but just being able to identify what the notes are on the staff can help. And I did that for like 12 years before I even started to really learn music theory.

i'm big fan of you from japan I listen this 10+times per a day lol because I have been fascinated by your playing. would you mind making this song's tab or chord progression or something?? I wish to practice your arrange but it is difficult for me to copy from video...
@AntonBetita2 жыл бұрын
Thank you for your support and for the many views! I'm not gonna lie - I don't remember how to play most of this song. It was a very difficult song to learn and even more difficult to record, so after I uploaded the video I kind of wanted to just forget about it for a while, and before you know it, "a while" becomes "a long time" and now it's been so long since I last played this on the guitar that I no longer remember most of it 😆 I unfortunately don't have a tab or chord sheet for this available at the moment. I got the chords from a music sheet (for piano, lol) book that I got from Amazon a few years back. I'm always hesitant to post pictures of that music sheet because I'm worried about copyright stuff concerning the authors of the official sheet book. I suppose I COULD try to do a handwritten chord sheet for it, but it's just that I have so many other songs that I'm working on and making handwritten chord sheets for right now that I can't find the time to revisit older arrangements and do handwritten chords for them - especially ones that I can't even remember how to play fully! Maybe someday I'll make it, but I can make no promises at this time 😅

@loganjk8990 Жыл бұрын
how u get this good bro tell me what scales you used to figure this out or something lol I've been halfass playing guitar for a long time and am not close to this level Do you go one note at a time and write it down for each part and problem solve positioning to fit them all later?
@AntonBetita Жыл бұрын
Hi! Thank you for the compliment and the question. I enjoy being able to share the thought process behind my arrangements lol. I don't usually use scales to figure things out. I use chords. And I just happened to have sheet music for this piece that included the chords on top of the notation. As long as I know the chords to a song/piece, I can usually figure out the melody by ear based on those chords. The thing about the melody notes is they usually fall just around the chord shape that you're already fingering. So most of the time I'll just hold down the chord shape and play around with the surrounding notes with my free fingers to find the melody by trial and error. There are exceptions to these of course, but I generally follow the same principle for most of my solo arrangements. Chords go a long way in figuring out everything else!
@loganjk899011 ай бұрын
Yooo I figured som of it out It's basically fingering around the b and e strings on a barrechord using scales on the second and seventh fret using the shape of Am while strumming the adg strings But you got such better um precision and enunciation and fancy flair tricks Still though Ty for this Still missing the intro but I figured a way to play those harmonics but my guitar is tuned a step down soy harmonics on the 12tj fret
