Really happy to see you guys this week. I'm in LA too so I know how hard it is right now, thanks for being here. Landman remains the best worst show I'm watching and I'm looking forward to S2.

Andy, so happy for you still, I brag to all my friends about it every time.

The Shield is also a great show where LA itself is a character. It's Shawn Ryan's love letter to the gritty side of the city. Not once did they ever look at the glamorous side that is really only 10% of the city.

Andy landed it with his insight about the cardio surgeon's scene!! That guy nailed it...

Would really love for Sheridan to expand his writer's room to two people. Just him and Andy. And then have a camera on Andy at all times during script meetings.

Guys, stop sharing your lists before you unveil them here. It removes spontaneity from the show which could lead to more interesting discussion. Instead, knowing each other's lists before hand, you start to manufacture your responses and they become less interesting and less spontaneous. Plus, we don't wanna hear how great they are before we get to hear them. Gives a 'this is all rehearsed' feel to something that should feel freewheeling.

Landman was such a disappointment. The cheesy ex wife and the daughter characters seemed to be fantasies of a 14 yr old boy. It was almost unwatchable.

@ I also recently watched The Agency on Paramount and it was so well done! Landman was a 7-11 hotdog and The Agency was a steakhouse meal.

Chris is spot on with his Rebecca take! As a character, she makes no sense and is all over the place.

The Falcone lawyer character gives me whiplash. One episode she appears delighted to invent her version of the truth to destroy an entire family’s wrongful death claim and the life of a former employee of her client. The next she’s wringing her hands over fracking. Between that and the innumerable improper objections/statements as an attorney, she’s by far the worst character. With of course the 30-year-old playing jailbait coming a close second.

Praying for all of LA. Is Pulp Fiction set in LA? LA Story, Clueless. Someone mentioned the Shield for TV. I would also throw in The Closer and Major Crimes.

I lump once upon a time in Hollywood and the nice guys together in my favorite depictions of LA. There’s just something about that dirty, porny, and seedy version of LA in the 70s that I love

I hope you guys watch American Primeval. It blows the Taylor Sheridan snooze-fests out of the water! About music: Don't miss the incredible Cindy Lee album. Deservedly #1 on Pitchfork for 2024

I liked Landman but seriously what was the point of some of Rebecca and all of Ainsley's scenes? that stuff served no purpose and i skipped it every time.

I don't know that you need to dive deeper to find a "point" for Ainsley other than Sheridan likes cramming his shows with stuff people like and people like butts.
@khanofsetta14 күн бұрын
@@maxzimmerman4718 And i like butts, did not give a fuck about them when watching the show because that is not what i went to something like Landman or Lioness for.

Your friend Kelly doesn't realize, many, but not all, people in Texas don't care about the condition of their cars. I've seen people here drive behind a gravel semi blowing off gravel the entire time on the highway and they will not move. I've actually seen people purposely blocking an ambulance with it's lights and sirens on in Houston.

I love this podcast, but listening to Chris contort his brain into a pretzel to justify liking this tedious poorly written oil industry propaganda is getting a little old. It’s not avant-garde, it’s just bad- and I say that as someone who largely enjoyed the first few episodes and Billy bob’s performance throughout the show. Props to Andy for being so patient.

I get covering landman because it’s so popular and I did enjoy the bit about the character who should get Lyme disease and disappear because Chris is too much of a gentleman to call out bad acting….but please take a chill pill on the sheridan-verse for a bit - it’s getting over the top…maybe cover severance this time around? Love you guys!

How are we not appreciating Landman as one of the 10 greatest shows of the decade? My theory is people can't sit still.

This is not the week for us in LA to get creative about studio backgrounds so grateful for the pod in general, but for the future ones - please please do not choose the Gargantuan black hole as your studio. Leave it for Interstellar.
