In this episode, we travel to Greenville, South Carolina to check out what has been called the largest Civil War artifact collection ever and we can't disagree!!! We saw things in this museum that we haven't seen in Nationally funded museums. This is a must see if you're a historian or Civil War Enthusiast! We promise you'll find the most knowledgeable guides anywhere!

Vicksburg is actually on our list! We didn't get to travel that much this year because of our daughter's high risk pregnancy and then her buying a home, so we have a list of places to hit this coming year. I didn't know about the courthouse, though! Thank you!!!!

The gentleman gracing the bottom of the chamber pot was union General Ben butler , known as Beast Butler through out the south . His insult to the ladies of New Orleans earned him this honor .

Can anyone buy civil war pistols or muskets
@TravelswithTommyandLori
@TravelswithTommyandLori 2 жыл бұрын
That's a question for the curators. We actually owned a black powder pistol from the revolutionary war days, but that was a long time ago. I'm not sure what the rules are now.

I would have asked these Old Timers what (if any) books they would recommend that tells an accurate history of South Carolina's role in the war. I'm sure they come across tons of suggested titles over the years. *Accurate, being the key word there.

I think of you every time I see camellias. I love them too! You would have gotten a kick out of both of those guys. They had some incredible stories. The library was magnificent but I didn't get to browse it for long because the one guy's wife had come in and they were all gathered in there talking, so I had to leave that part out. But, I swear, that place is 100 times worth going to see.
