For pouches, if you're having budget issues look at the crafting kits for them, it might take a bit more time to assemble the pouch, but they end up costing less for a better look

Do you have some links of recommended places to buy? Anywhere we should avoid? Are eBay and Etsy bad or good on a budget?

Do you have some links of recommended places to buy? Off the top of my head over the years I have personally used and received a good products from. ChowsEmporium “Best supplier for LARP Costumes and Accessories at reasonable price.” www.etsy.com/uk/shop/ChowsEmporium?gclid=EAIaIQobChMImO_huZ6x9wIVh6ztCh3a_APyEAAYASAAEgJRXvD_BwE Having a Larp “Everything you need for Larp and some things you just want.” havingalarp.com/ LARP Fashion “General Online Shop with great delivery times” www.larp-fashion.co.uk/?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIuZ7Chp-x9wIVRrDtCh1Yxg7xEAAYASAAEgLpRPD_BwE Eldritch “LRP weapons, armour and props.” www.eldritch.com/ Mandala Studios “Amazing Masks and prosthetics” mandalastudios.co.uk/ Darkblade “Complete LRP supplies from armour and weapons to leatherwork and accessories.” darkbladeuk.co.uk Anywhere we should avoid? Shops and traders change from year to year so something that I had a bad experience with may have resolved this and be an amazing place to buy kit from. So, regarding this I would advise doing your research, look at the reviews from customers over the last 6 months. Look into there returns polices and maybe send them an email checking to see if you get a response. It’s a mind field out there when it comes to online shopping for Larp costume items especially when you are on a low budget. My last bit of advice on this would be to attend an event that has traders present and then you can have a good first-hand look at their products. Its why I fell in love with ChowsEmporium and would always seek out her store at a Larp event. Are eBay and Etsy bad or good on a budget? Yes, I had a horrible experience with a well-known and trusted costume designer and found myself struggling to find something on short notice. I looked on Etsy and came across some amazing looking items that I purchased and received within the estimated delivery period and the quality was spot on. But as I mentioned before, do your research and check out their reviews. Hope this helped answer your questions

Good guide, and solid advice at the end particularly, getting kit perfect first time is pretty rare unless you have a lot of experience and odds and ends to draw on, best to aim for "good enough" and keep expanding and evolving as you go, which is great for reflecting a characters growth and history too!

Thank you, I'm thinking of doing some others videos off the back of this one. We're to shop for Larp gear, Chartiy Shop Budget Larp Costume and How to add details. I think the video gave a good starting point.But due to trying to keep it short and sweet lost some of the important details.

Excuse me, but where have you found these prices? I've checked different online stores but the prices are quite higher
@MarkWhiteTheLarpGuide
@MarkWhiteTheLarpGuide Ай бұрын
These prices are based in the UK and from stores that attend events at Profound Decisions, Lauren Trust, and Curious Past Times. The prices were also from 2+ years ago when the video was made. So may not be as accurate as they once were. All the information in the video is based of my own experiences attending Larp games around the UK. So I may have accounted reduce priced items, sales, or discounted items without being aware. Som traders reduce prices on items at events to help clear out old stock, they also don't tend to announce this with big signs, etc. Sorry I can't be off much help, but I would still say the advice in the video is still sound.

@@MarkWhiteTheLarpGuide i'm not used to the larp world, so thank you so much! Your video has been very helpful. Do you have any website to recommend? Have a nice day :)

@andreacasazza3350 i don't want to give you bad advice or outdated, and it has been a good 4+ years since I attended a fantasy Larp. But my advice would be to borrow what kit you can, hit up chartiy shops and make the best costume you can afford. Then, attend an event with traders and have a good look around. Get to know them in person. You will be amazed at how open and friendly they are and also how amazing they can be for kitting out a new player. Check out hefty Yeti KZbin channel and look for the two videos he did kitting out new players 😀. He is not a trader, but he does go all around them and gets two people fully kitted out.

@@MarkWhiteTheLarpGuide thank you so much! Last question, do you know any larp community on discord :) ?
@MarkWhiteTheLarpGuide
@MarkWhiteTheLarpGuide Ай бұрын
I don't, but hefti yeti does have one, and you can also find them via Facebook groups. Most larps have a discord attached to it and a means for players to keep in contact between games. With larger events having a multitude of Facebook groups, discord servers, and other online communities associated with them. If you are looking to attend your first larp and are based in the UK, I would start at the bigger larp orginsers (listed in my original reply) and tap up their communities for advice. Also making a reddit post seeking help will get you some great information also. Hope that helped.

Yeah, these are some really shitty advice. Not only are you giving people you are ready to go to any fantasy larp with just a polyester shirt and some combat trousers, you are are focusing on the wrong things. You can easily achieve most of the desired effects (style, warmth, covering up modern trousers, etc) with just a simple woolen tunic. You can buy (or make) one for a lot less than it would cost to buy a larp shirt, tabard, thermals and trousers. That is better in every way. Looks better and covers more than a tabard, warmer than a shirt and tabard combined and fits more roles and setting. Get one with loose sleeves so you can roll them up if it gets too hot. If it gets too cold you can wear just a normal t-shirt or jumper underneath. Having this one, good, and simple layer will save you a lot of money that you can spend on improving the rest of your kit. The advice on belts was good. You can almost never go wrong with just a simple leather belt. As for trousers, instead of combat or cargo pants with a lot of pockets, go to a thrift store and buy a pair of woolen suit pants, preferebly a few sizes to big for you. They will look a lot better and will be cheaper as well. Get dark grey or dark blue ones instead of black ones. I do agree that kit shaming is bollocks, though.
