Meet Jason Sapan, aka Dr. Laser, who has been tinkering with holograms since the '70s, and even has a lab dedicated to convincing you that the 3D projection you're seeing is real. For Dr. Laser, holograms are a labor of love.

Absolutely same. I am curious about how interference patterns actually record to the surface and the "oh god, science" when he started to explain made me jolt in a visceral way the likes of which few youtube videos have.

It's basically something that you can't really comprehend for any complex object, but you can try to by taking a simple object, like a parabolic mirror, and going through the interference pattern it makes. Then, the more difficult part is how that pattern, let's say laid by 3D ridge- and strand-like structures of silver, diffracts light reflected by a plate behind it (base plate type of thing, on which the emulsion is spread). I guess I'll work on some schemes for myself to see if I can go through image formation.

I feel incredibly saddened to see such a bright and experienced scientist being diminished and ashamed like that under the public eye. You, narrator, should be ashamed of yourself.

I wanted to hear what he was going to say about holography, I thought it'd be interesting. but noooo, this rude women decides to dumb it down excruciatingly and completely mug the guy off; by talking over him and cutting him off 😒

This channel could be so much bigger. The mini stories on here are really interesting but I believe they have a deeper background. Could make each into a mini doc. I know I would watch. This channel has a good eye for interesting things/people.

His last comments - that maybe it doesn't make him famous or rich, but it makes him very happy. It's pretty sad, because channels like this *could* help make him rich and/or famous. He'd need maybe - two more minutes of film? To push the video from a simple fluff piece to something significant. And "according to the expert" in the video title is just flat out condescending. According to people who *would* think it's cool, if you had all done a better job with the editing, it's pretty cool. Thankfully I've seen other videos featuring Mr. Sapan, and know how cool it is (which is to say - very).

Love how people love to espouse the greatness of science (and put deceptive titles in their KZbin videos about such), but when it comes time to actually delve into the science, the narrator shuts down the discussion 🙄

Not cool, when the producer interrupts the talent's train of thought, as if what he had to say was too much for the average person to comprehend. I would like to have heard the rest of Dr. Laser's comments, too. But, thanks for at least "sort of" covering him. Yeah. ;)

Only rarely do I dislike a video. Clicking baiting curious science folk and then not giving them science, despite your phone back music, is a bad idea. Great topic, but it read like a procrastinated school presentation on cutting onions horizontally first then vertical rather than vertically first and then horizontally.

Wow was I fooled. This is not a Great Big Story. I guess I have to find the guy and ask him about this. You were granted and interview and maybe something happened and you had to leave. I dont understand why this video was even posted, it seems well produced then ends at the very start. I dont get it?
