Andrew really didn't have to go THAT hard with his Kickstarter... everything about it is just so so so stunning!! And ooooh that book Clear sounds super interesting, had never heard of it either. Also love the bullet journal haul, excited for more content around that next year. 🤩

There were SO many goodies! I'm super psyched for the bullet journal content too.

It's going to take me years to read everything on my shelves but I can live with that. I laughed so hard when you showed us how small Persuasion was. Small print is the bane of my existence with books. I'm sure you'll find Persuasion one day. Great haul. I'm looking forward to trying The Dagger and the Coin after I finish LPQ.

I don’t understand how the printing houses ever decide to print the text that small! It’s crazy 😂 I hope you love LPQ, it’s such a phenomenal series. 💜💜

Heck yeah! I mean, I feel like there's a comforting thing underneath the anxiety of not being able to read all the books in time. Having a big library is a good feeling. :D

I SO need to make 2025 a read my shelves year! Do you have any suggestions on how you tackled that effectively?
@ToriTalks2
@ToriTalks2 Ай бұрын
Honestly just being really strict with myself on how many books were coming in, having friends pick out reads for me from my shelves, creating a list of my physical TBR so I could see what I had, and keeping myself super focused on mood reading and just grabbing what I wanted to read!

I love how you're modeling a love for books with your kids! As a retired teacher, I can confirm that what they see at home will be with them through their entire lives and if parents love reading, it just "catches on". :) Thanks for sharing your book haul. So many wonderful books for you to explore! (Of course, I will speak highly of Roosevelt and anybody else named Ted.... well, except Bundy! LOL)

Thanks for the shout-out and tag. I was shocked to see I had a channel tag! Didn’t even realise I’d set that up (clearly tech-savvy here). I’ve definitely gone overboard buying books this year did the math and realised I’ve got about 20 years’ worth of unread books… which really puts your own mortality into sharp focus. Will it stop me buying more??? Not a chance 😂
@ToriTalks2

Haha you do have a channel tag, and I found it! I think having more books than you can read in a lifetime is somewhat comforting under all the anxiety... XD

Ooh Hawksong! What a throwback. I love that book so much. Hope you love it too! Zane is one of my favorite love interests to this day. And man another throwback, Seabiscuit. That book is so good. Its extra special to me because a teacher of mine bought it for me at a library book sale and ive treasured it ever since.

KJ Parker! I am reading the Saevus Corax books now (only book 3 left), they are ridiculously witty. I have no idea what I expected, but man was I surprised by it. That series really hinges on the main character being a... curious character and the author gives him this really specific kind of a voice.

There is a website called Fantastic Foction that I use to look up the works of all my favorite scifi and fantasy authors. It shows Hunting Party to be book 1 of 7 in the Serrano Legacy. Elizabeth Moon is an author I also want to read some of. She has a ton of books.

If it helps at all in your Buying Persuasion Saga, I highly recommend the Broadview edition. It’s an academic edition (paperback) with some extra notes and such in it, but I don’t remember them being particularly expensive (I had to buy several Broadview editions of things for classes in my master’s program). Plus, they hold up well! I’ve read the heck out of my copy and it’s still in great condition.

The Andrew Meredith books look GORGEOUS. Emma truly has no chill. I had to yell at her several times while reading 😅. Your shirt reminds me of the cover of The Case of Cem that's still on my tbr, It's supposed to be very good.

My most recent purchases: The Will of the Many by James Islington which appears to be about a spy dug deeply into an enemy society. I wanted a taste of Warhammer 40K so I got the one people always say to read first, Horus Rising by Dan Abnet. TORI, I saw you talk about Seasons of Albadone and got and read the book and now it looks like it will be my favorite book of 2024.

Can recommend «The Siege» Trilogy by KJ Parker, and have his «The Folding Knife» on my 2025 TBR! I also hope to get to the «Hanuvar» series, but that one is more of a MBR then a TBR for 2025, sadly, with my current TBR List! 😅Theodore Roosevelt is perhaps my favourite US President, such a larger then life character! My own November Haul: The final two novels in Mary Gentle’s «The Book of Ash» series (90s Alt-History Military Fiction), «The Wild Machines» & «Lost Burgundy», as well as a Hardback Edition of Tolkien’s «The Fall of Numenor», Matthew Harffy’s «Forest of Foes» (Historical Fiction set in Anglo Saxon Britain), «The Lion & the Sword» by Roberta Cray (90s Fantasy inspired by Alexander the Great’s Conquest of Greece: Something of a hidden gem going by the few, but very enthusiastic reviews I found of it, anyway, I just saw that glorious cover by the lauded Tolkien Illustrator John Howe, and just had to have it!😄).and «The Women of Troy» by Pat Barker (retelling of the aftermath of the Iliad from the perspective of Briseis, the «War Bride» of Achilles)! So far in December I have received: «Sun Eater» 3-6: «Demon in White», «Kingdoms of Death», «Ashes of Men» & «Disquiet Gods» by Christopher Ruocchio (Space Opera) «Anitra» by Hilde Susan Jægtnes (Alt-History Fiction, about an imagined granddaughter of the Composer Edvard Grieg living in Pre-WW2 Fascist Rome, torn between her creative dreams of creating a Grand Mythological Opera with the support of the totalitarian regime and her lesbian lover, a Jewish Musician...) «Mannen som bar solen» («The Man Who Carried The Sun») by Kristian Bang Foss (Historical Fiction set during the Nordic Bronze Age at the onset of the Late Bronze Age Collapse) I also expecting any day now the Broken Binding Special Edition of Professor Philip Chase’s «The Way of Edan», which the Good Professor was so kind to show me a preview of during his Scandinavian Holiday this Summer! 😎🙌 Cheers Tori!

About the new book by Anthony Ryan, do not read it before reading Covenant of Steel! Both trilogies are in the same world, and there are some things overlapping, as the new one is after the first one. That is my clear impression after having read the new book. Have fun with the Dagger and the Coin! Well, I have been one of those who have said that it is even better than LPQ. PS. Jane Austen is one of my favourite English authors ever - so much irony and humour in them!
