I always liked when goku was out for some time in the story it makes other characters have more screen time until goku arrives back like in the saiyan saga when goku finished learning kaioken and had to rush to earth , frieza saga when goku was healing, cell saga when goku had the heart virus, and buu saga when goku was sent back to other world so gotenks could handle the job
