I might read some more of the Duskmourn stories. Which would you like to hear?

Love that "house" stops being "a house". The word becomes a name of a fungus with technology as it's spores

I could listen to you read for ages. Great voice! I really did like the fact that elves had existed on Duskmourne, it helps the plane feel more... Magic.

excellent read, ty! i am honestly more than surprised by how much i like the story of "house" swallowing the world. if only the cards would treat the setting with the same level of seriousness instead of nostalgia references and puns all the time. duskmourne could be sooo fkn cool (and interesting) and this story gives us a taste of what couldve been.
@lloydnoid65062 ай бұрын
I wish the survivors in the cards themselves felt more like... well, survivors. I dont want my horror survivor commander to wield a magitech hammer and gun, i want him to be desperately clutching the firepoker he found, or swinging his crowbar wildly at an oncoming beast. Ill probably just buy singles from the more monster-y cards like the Jolly Balloon Man or Vagavoth himself.
@antongrigoryev63812 ай бұрын
Well, the House has been around for about a century as I understood, so for anyone to survive that long they should have meaningful and effective ways to fight back. I honestly don't mind the ghostbuster-style tech in general, it's just the more specific details of its design and the design of the survivor outfits that are the problem.
@callumbyrne42632 ай бұрын
This was amazing! I was a little sad we didn't get an 'oficial' reading from WOTC for the other storys so its great that you stepped up for this one

Very cool read, I like this take on unknown horror. An entire plane consumed by a house, landscapes splitting seamlessly into liminal spaces. The concept of environment shattered into floors, doors, walls, windows, ceilings. The sun eclipsed by the mundane, spiraling rooms with no end.
@fluffy14sweet2 ай бұрын
It's honestly surprising just how well the horror writing for this set works in comparison to the lackluster 80's stylings of the survivors on the cards.

The writers did such a great job with stuff like this or 'children of the carnival' & then maybe a third of the art is absolute genius while the rest feels like an insult

They didn't; just narrowly escaped after crippling a lesser projection of Valgavoth. Also there might be some seepage into Ravnica. Maybe.

The fact this plane has such cool lore just makes me that much sadder it's been relegated to a cringe 80's throwback set. It's hard to feel the genuine dread this concept instills when you're looking at goofy ghostbuster equipment and literal aliens.

The 80s sucked, but the idea could have worked if applied well enough. This was a hot mess.
@Pimpulus2 ай бұрын
@@obadijahparks agree, and tbf, there still is a lot that is incredible imo, some of the artwork, some flavor text. and the 80ies aesthetics arent the real problem, its the implied "wink wink" that many cards seem to have
@christopherb5012 ай бұрын
I look at it this way. House allows for particular movements and cultural strains to crop up, that provide false hope to prevent fear from stagnating into less appetizing despair. And as a demon of greed, it's easier to fall back on particular ideas - rehashing tropes and remaking them, as it were - than to truly create something new or to foster it in others. If anything, the presence of this derivative BS only better serves how the demon operates and embodies the true character of the American 1980s, that we STILL haven't gotten away from.

beautifully narrated! For me, the story sadly excedes my suspension of disbelief (again). I feel the house would have worked better as a pocket plane.

I think that The House would make a fantastic Horror themed RPG campaign, be it DND or something else, it just oozes flavour
@3ndlessL00p2 ай бұрын
Easiest way to adapt it imo would be to play a game of Dread set in Duskmourn. And let the cards inspire the monsters that kill your players

The concept: a plane where a houae possessed by a demon expanded and slowly devoured the world, creating sniggtmarish hellacape for the denizens trapped inside The execution: whoa daaamn Daniel, you remeber that meme? Also do you like ghost busters? How about giant imaginary friends??😊

I did not expect this to be a reading of a short story and had I known it was beforehand, I would not have clicked on it. I have no interest in readings and would have preferred anything else. In future, don’t. Or, at the very least, make it an unlisted upload and alert people via social media media so that it doesn’t appear in our subscription feeds.

@hobobeard C'mon man. The first 2 seconds of the video would have cleared up any misconceptions you might have had about what the video was going to be about before clicking on it. At most it cost you about 5 seconds. It's almost like you're implying that you wish you hadn't contributed to the view count. Rest assured, clicking on a video and then clicking off it doesnt help a video's analytics, it hinders it. Commenting helps though.

Let me tell you guys something about @hobobeard - After a good game of Arena, i added him because he seemed like a cool guy. We got chatting, over the next couple of months we became good friends. Lots of banter, lots of great Commander, Arena and most importantly true friendship. I invited him to my house for a mtg themed party. He said he was coming so i was looking forward to meeting him in real life. When he arrived at my house, he pushed me against the wall and started nibbling my ear, i felt his hard ♥♥♥♥ push against my leg. I punched him and then tapped him irl. Don't trust this guy.
