I hadn't even heard of it until the day I saw it last week. I was planning to see the new Bond but there wasn't a good screen time so I watched this instead, knowing almost nothing about it. Needless to say I was blown away. Amazingly well written and acted and I loved the way the story was told despite how hard it was to watch at times. It will certainly go down as one of my most memorable, if not disturbing cinematic experiences.

@@gammelgun9272 Most people don't know the first thing about medieval history. At first blush, the armor didn't seem so bad. It was all happening in about 1386, which was during a period in which armor was transitioning from chain to plate over a period of about a century. So, apart from the huge pauldrons and the comprehensive plate cuisses and greaves which armored both front and back of the legs, it looked sort of right. The fully articulated gauntlets were distracting as well. The whole impression was that the armor was out of place by about a generation, but at least I was looking at the sort of armoring errors that I was used to from Hollywood. Annnnnnnd then I saw the helmets with only half a visor. WTF?!?

Just watched in cinema here in Russia. Reminded good old western movies from the film era, which probably has ended in 90s - early 00s. The characters were truthful, thats how I would imagine a medieval knight. Easy to dive into the atmosphere and get lost for 2.5 h. Pure joy! May be just an Affleck Damon chemistry effect though.

@@simonriley4131 No. It makes sense because it gives the knight much better vision and still partly protect his face. There was nothing like it in history, but it is not a stupid idea, in fact travel back to the middle ages and I think such a helmet could make a serious run.

We need an extended directors cut like kingdom heaven
@RShadow12
@RShadow12 2 жыл бұрын
But why? I thought the film was phenomenal the way it was. Every scene felt necessary, and the pacing was great. Unless Ridley Scott himself comes out and says that this cut wasn’t his complete vision, then I don’t think an extended or director’s cut is necessary

@RShadow12
@RShadow12 2 жыл бұрын
@@VOGS597 “They always cut a lot to make the cinema version.” Many theatrical cuts are director’s cuts. Denis Villeneuve has stated this about his own films. Just because there are deleted scenes for a movie doesn’t mean that the director wanted those but was forced to take them out. More often than not, scenes are cut because the director WANTS them removed. There’s nothing wrong with extended cuts, but they’re called “extended” cuts for a reason. They’re just an extension of the director’s true vision and are not necessary (Ex. Ben Affleck prefers the theatrical cut of The Town over the extended cut). Director’s cuts, on the other hand, I am fully supportive of and advocate for because those ARE the director’s true vision opposed to the theatrical cuts
