No there's a big difference between having fun and saying no than screaming in fear and yelling for help, even in his perception of it it's still messed up and obviously wrong

yes but in his MIND that's how he sees it. That's the whole point of the movie, to understand the mindset of the people of the times.

I feel like she was leading him on, from telling the guard to get out and walking away knowing he was going to follow her, happen to be going right to the bedroom. She resisted just enough to feel good to let it happen. Still wrong and dark times but I seen what she was doing there.
@masterplokoon88033 ай бұрын
@@forcecalibration924 she wasn't leading him on, she was abundantly clear from the beggining that she didn't want it. When she said "get out!" she meant for both of them. Le Gris disobeyed and merely dismissed his lackey. Stop making excuses. And perhaps you should check on the dictionary what the word "no" means.

People praising the cinematography and the actors Jodie, Adam, Matt. But Ben affleck also nailed his role as Peter II, Count of Alençon. IRL he was like that and remained hostile to Sir Jean. Everytime I saw Peter just hated him which proves how great Ben is.

Even from his account I took it as non consensual, and not in the grey it was pretty black and white to me.

It's supposed to be. Jacques tries to lie to himself, but it is clear that he knows what he has done. He tries to playdown how bad the rape was, but it is clearly still rape and he knows it.

Can you please do a comparison of Jean vs Marguerite? I found that most interesting part of the movie. Like when Jean remembers coming back from Scottland he embraces Marguerite warmly and romantically but in her version he insults and ignores her. Imo Jean loved his wife and he thought Marguerite knew how much he loved her. But these loving thoughts are internal he doesn't show her so she feels unloved by him mostly.

I thought Jacques was in the grey area of innocent. The subtleties of the movie lead me to believe it was consensual but she said enough to retain her honor as a woman at that time to feign resistance.
@dawsonlucas3693 жыл бұрын
No the point of the movie is that marriage back then was archaic and men treated women like property as Jean literally married his wife for land the actors said this was a feminist film and it actually is it’s just not woke it just shows you how shit was really great film

I agree this movie was nuanced but, you don't fuck someone's spouse even if it's consensual AND she also said no so calling him 'innocent' is a huge stretch
@dawsonlucas3693 жыл бұрын
@@keshavraman7928 you're right he wasn't innocent however thru the sense of the 24th century Jacques le gris literally thought he did no wrong that's why he didn't confess in the end but the fact remains he's a rapist and jean de carrouge didn't treat his wife with respect by locking her up all day everyday
