The Kmart in Bridgehampton NY is the last fully stocked Kmart in the United States. It is a huge store, well kept, but eerily empty. This walkthrough was done around 4 pm on a Thursday.

In 1962 I went with my parents to the grand opening of the very 1st Kmart in America in Garden City, Michigan. I was 6 years old. 🤓

I ❤️ Kmart!!! So many memories after watching your videos and I really don’t understand why people don’t buy there!!

All those clothes have to be consolidated stock from all the other mass closures. I can’t imagine them getting new inventory at this point.

The only reason this store remains, same as the, "Garden Center K Mart) in Florida is because of lease obligations. The reason the store always looks so, "neat" is because there are no customers to mess it up. The, "funny brands" you mentioned are the third tier brands that the company is using because most vendors expect payment up front from K Mart/Sears stores. I thank you for your video. It is nice to see what is the actual last remaining K Mart. I know many will argue the location in Florida, but that really is only a front to fulfil their leasing obligations. At least they had your mini milk bones. :)

Nice video of the walkthrough. I'm from Richmond, Virginia and traveling up to this Kmart for the first time in the future (if said store location be around) will be more costly than the merchandise prices. What I mean is the numerous NJ/NY toll roads ranging between $9-$20 each way. Seeing it's the Hamptons and the wealthy people (which I'm not against) is known to live in that neck of the woods, the area's Kmart strategy is banking on those people. By looking at Google maps from a few months ago, to my knowledge, I don't believe there's a Walmart within miles so Kmart is running unopposed. How's Kmart on Saturday and Sunday with their shopping crowds up there? Weekends vs weekday crowds may make a difference. The last Kmarts in my area went away around 2005-2006. One of former Kmart buildings was converted into a betting/casino establishment.

Why not? if they are doing good, I mean, they seem to keep defying the odds

It will probably be like Blockbuster, in which this will be the only location hanging 😅. Recently this year, they repainted the walls to a grey color, which looks nice. So there’s probably no signs of this store closing soon. Just hope they keep maintaining it. Some new signage and other updated fixtures would be nice!!!

I know this is an oddly specific question in which the likely answer is negatory... But by chance did you check out what kind of earbuds they had in the electronics department?

Do they even have electronics there? I saw a soundbar on one of the wndcaps

@@inflatablemaster9898 I copypasta'd my post from reddit to reply to you: "Paging r/LiminalSpace 😲 Holy cow this is surreal... It's like, not creepy but eery, not scary but satisfyingly unsettling in a good way. It's a total time machine into 10 to 20 years ago and I love it. I wish they hadn't all gone under. I used to get some actually decent electronics type stuff there for low prices. Circa 2012 I bought multiple pairs of Maxell brand earbuds for around 20 bucks each and they all lasted me 4 to 5 years of hard use and all sounded great. I had some blue Couleurs, a black pair called Encore, and a wooden pair called Timbers. Seems like all the new model Maxell earbuds look like cheap garbage compared to back then. Skullcandy earbuds sound decent but quality is hit and miss. One pair DOA, another works for a month and dies, and finally my last pair of Jibs has seemingly held on for the past 4 months. I need to get some Philips or JVC earbuds and quit buying Skullcandy shit 😆" So, yes, they did at least used to have electronics, but idk if they quit having them in store or not. They still sell them online though! Just not the good stuff they used to have...

I really don’t understand why it would even be open after this long drawn out journey toward a sad death. Logistics of getting items to one store and having anyone work at “the corporate office” has to make zero sense financially.

I mentioned that one in the video but Is it a full Kmart? I heard it only sells garden items
@randys6220Ай бұрын
@@hayleygordon7969 The 1 in Miami Florida sells regular merchandise (very limited) but is located in the former Kmart garden center. Kmart by name only. The one in your video is the last true Kmart on the mainland.
@mrbignatedog_Official15 күн бұрын
It doesn’t sell only garden items. Kmart sold off most of their store area to AtHome, and they now use the former Garden Center portion to stock their main line of goods. It’s not just garden supplies. They’re just using the garden center as their store now.
@jamiepinefan23172 ай бұрын
Such a shame since it's thriving in Australia.
@randys6220Ай бұрын
Because they are separately owned and managed (not the same company). There is 1 in Guam that is owned by Kmart USA that is doing very well because there is no Walmart competition. The locals are hoping that the Australian Kmart chain buys it out before Kmart USA totally shuts down.
@jamiepinefan2317Ай бұрын
@randys6220 if australia bought out americas kmart, would probably revive it 100% since you also have targets but then again americas malls are dying
@JohnCitizenDU4 күн бұрын
@randys6220 Not anymore but the Australian Kmart was started by S. S. Kresge and was originally a 51/49 deal (with G. J. Coles & Coy Limited having the 49%), before they exchanged their 51% stake in Kmart Australia (this happened in 1978), for a 20% stake in G. J. Coles and Coy Limited, before selling it in 1994.
