Just a reminder Jaby, the reason why the infected took his time is because he's the second stage of infection which is the stalker. He's doing exactly what he's supposed to do, stalking the girls & waiting for the best time to strike, which he did.

This does explain why it took so long to finally attack them. I hope they explain what stalkers are just to firmly establish the fact in the show's universe. But my problem with it is that since it's evolved to a stalker, it must've been there for quite some time now. So why didn't it wake up when Riley was there before? It felt too convenient that it only woke up then. Since the fireflies were using the place as well, how did they never discover it or alert it? Annoys me a bit but not a huge deal

26:36 I think the Halloween store was much closer to the infected site, unlike the other things in the mall, and when they started playing the music on the speakers, it was enough to trigger the infected. Maybe that stalker was muted to certain sounds, since falling ceiling tiles & other things deteriorating around the mall wouldn't trigger it, but the person singing in the song awoke it because they know humans are around.

The best hidden detail almost everyone missed is that Joel keeps on wearing the broken watch (which was broken when Sarah died) reminding him of his biggest loss. Similarly Ellie has the 1st bite mark which reminds her of the 1st love 1st kiss the only family she ever knew which she lost on the same day as the bite. The parallels in the background are just insane easily missed.

(I started panicking as soon as they entered the mall, coz i knew where it was leading) Also explains Ellie saying to Joel that that was not her first kill in episode 4.. I loved this episode so much! Visually it was stunning, and the story was lovely. Even during the apocalypse we need breaks like these. I literally loved seeing them interact, having fun, being amazed at stuff that we take for granted. This episode it's just a cute, lovely and sad story. Everything was so enjoyable, seeing them having fun, being kids, during the apocalypse, being in their own bubble, it gives hope that even in times like these, where survival is a priority, love, fun and hope can exist too, even in small doses like these. You create memories, that keep you moving forward through hard times, because you want to have moments like those again, that's what Ellie is thinking trying to save Joel. She found a place where she belongs, with Joel. This episode is a peek inside Ellie's probably most precious memory and is a nice change of pace

This episode is honest to god better than the original Left Behind DLC. I loved how throughout the episode they were showing hints how both Ellie and Riley had a huge crush on each other. Like Riley imagining Ellie in the lingerie and Ellie checking her reflection to see if she looked good. Then when they finally kissed I just clutched my heart because it was so sweet. But what really got me was the final scene of Ellie stitching up Joel, she never left Riley behind so she wasn’t going to leave the only other person she ever loved behind either. And then when the original “Left Behind” theme kicked in that’s when the water works kicked in.😭😭😭

I like to point out in Episode 1 Joel and Tess came across an infected was plastered to the wall and Tess said he wasn't there the day before. So in the mall that infected may not have been there when Riley was banging on the coin machine.

I experienced a moment in college that will sustain me into my old age. A table at a 24hr restaurant with classmates in art school bouncing ideas, talking, and laughing. I was able to pause, look around me, and see that moment for what it was. It was everything I ever wanted. It didn't last very long, but this is what I think of when I think about being young. That smile in this episode is exactly how I felt that night years ago. Beautiful.

Loved the tension and suspense that was building up until the stalker attack. I go back to something Alfred Hitchcock said about building suspense. If you have a bomb go off all of a sudden, you get the audience for a second and it's done. If you tell the audience that a bomb is going to go off, the entire time you're anticipating and bracing yourself for what's coming. Great direction this episode.

The infected take his time to attack them because this is his behaviour, he is in the stalker stage that acts more like a predator seeking a prey than a mindless zombie, they don't run and announce their presence instead they move slowly and hidden, just stalking the prey until they are very close and with direct sight of the target. This is a direct reference to the game wich only has 2 stalker during all campaign and one in the left behind DLC, they are very rare and problably the most dangeours of the infecteds because they use strategy and only attacks when has the advantage.

So like, as a teen I got to go to France with a school group and there are carousels EVERYWHERE there. It’s awesome! Our teacher kept saying we had too much to do and couldn’t ride but when we went to a small town at one point, there was a DOUBLE DECKER ONE so he ended up letting me and my other classmate who wanted to (the teachers son lmao) ride it. It was amazing.

Before ellie came to the mall, riley would go once a while but not scream and yell and make a ton of noise. It was just when they brought ellie there to make the perfect date for her best friend/ love interest. Also, in this post apocalyptic world, a lot of people probably need booze and drugs to sleep so them making that noise probably wouldn't bother anyone. It's a boarding school, for all intents and purposes.

6:06 I love this show for all the low key fake out moments. It gives you these scenes that really put you on edge (ie the tunnels with Henry and Sam, the bridge over the river of death, Ellie and the broken flashlight here etc) all these moments when you’re certain something bad/jump scare is going to happen but nothing does it almost gives a false sense of security until it ultimately does come.

He's totally spot on when he says knowing whats going to happen makes it worse. I think even if you don't know whats going to happen, if you've paid attention to previous things that were said in other episodes (Tess saying "Oh you went in that mall all by yourself?" and Ellie replying "Yeah.") then you know this isn't gonna have a happy ending regardless. I was watching this with someone who had never played the games and she picked up on it like "Okay, so when is the friend gonna get bit because thats clearly whats going to happen right?" Knowing whats going to happen, regardless of how, the show is so ELITE at STILL being able to build up the tension and anticipation because we KEPT waiting for the other shoe to drop. My anxiety was through the roof.

i dont think Riley was making as much noise as in that night with Ellie cause some dropped clues 1-She said she was mostly building the bombs by herself(so that is less noisy that turning the arcade and carrusel ON) 2-she broke into the coin machine by herself and we have no frame of reference to say exactly how noisy she was and how deep under the stalker was at the moment..but it seems to me, this particular night because she wanted to impress Ellie,.. they were noisier and turn on more light and machines than ever, also Riley thought she had explored the place well enough to asume it was empty of infected.

My two cents as a gamer who loves both games. Awesome series! Better than most of the other video game adaptations we've had. Didn't like pedro and bella at first, but they grew on me especially Bella. I know Pedro's skills from GOT, Mando and Narcos. I only knew Bella as Lady Mormont. She is a great Ellie, not perfect, but still amazing. I'd rather have a great actress like her, than someone who looks like Ellie but sucks at acting. My only nitpicks are the lack of action and infected interactions. I understand that at its core TLOU is Joel and Ellie's bond throughout their journey, but I feel like a few more infected action sequences would have benefitted the show. Also maybe doing the original 10 episodes or longer runtimes. Other than that, awesome show! Best video game series adaptation we've had compared to MK, Halo and the rest

There’s two reason why there’s less action with the infected. 1. The infected are too tough and they are keeping it as grounded and realistic as possible. In the game for gameplay purposes you have a lot of action and unlimited resources unless you play on grounded, but you get the point. The Walkers in the Walking Dead are slow and easy to kill, the infected are not, so they are carefully using the action scenes and making it a grounded as possible. 2. Speaking of TWD, the Zombies aren’t a constant threat. You get used to them because you see the characters killing so many per episode so it’s like they lost the element of surprise with them. If you have Joel and Ellie killing 5-10 per episode then people are not going to take seriously the infected, at least the first 3 stages of the infection. The horde and the child Clicker in episode 5 wouldn’t hit the same if every episode we see them fighting infected. I agree that maybe they could’ve balance it out a little bit better but I understand why they don’t have infected in every episode in a lot of scenes. Joel in the game is superhuman, in here he is far from that and I like it.

When I watched this I realized that I wasn't a normal teenager when I was younger. I thought about things pretty similar to how I do now in how I wouldn't have been keeping up as much noise as they were without checking the whole place to be sure there weren't any infected there. I cared more about not dying than living it up. Yeah, some might say I didn't truly live when I was young, but at least I'm still alive to talk about it and enjoy the things I didn't enjoy back then. I'd have a really good chance at surviving this world cause I don't take unnecessary risks, but I will do just about anything to not die in a way that is not my choice. Enjoyed the reaction and until next time 👍👍✌ out. (Spoiler Warning) I enjoyed the episode, but the only issue I had is that they didn't handle the incident scene with Elle and Riley more effectively. Namely how the bites happened. They showed Elle's arm both times in the only instances where her bite could've happened. One where they were first knocked to the floor and then when Ellen was knocked into the clothes racks. Both times they show her arm where the bite would be after the scene and it wasn't there. It just was all of a sudden there. That's the first goof that was made in the show that I noticed.

@@Blinkptx It works for some, but not for everyone. Luck isn't on each person's side so I just knew caution was right for me personally by instinct cause I've never been extremely lucky. Other than 2 or 3 run-ins with a Black Widow spider. That's why I mentioned that in the world of The Last of Us I'd be okay. I'm tactical and strategic with my decision making the majority of the time and less impulsive back then and now. I still had fun just knew not to get excessive wit it.
