I knew people were gonna be pissed but I kinda saw that coming. Even Joel said he's fucked over a lot of people and he's also been doing that for over 20 years so I figured there was no way in hell someone wasn't going to come looking for him

Ik like I was so surprised with the backlash the decision got even though throughout the first game there’s so many flags and proof that Joel is not a good person, just because we were with him through his story doesn’t mean he should be a good guy, this is the most realistic thing for this world that happened. Hell they made a mistake and they paid the price for trusting random people.

@@justingabriel1765 - The problem isn’t that Joel gets killed. It’s the manner of that death and then the fact you are forced to play as the murderer who is anything but a good character herself. This game took the nihilism way too far!

@@PaulusAlone I disagree, I think it was fine, but that’s probably because I never blamed Abby specifically for Joel’s death, like I was upset obviously but learning more about it I just accepted that it was bound to happen, someone was going to get to him. And for Abby that was closure, I can’t fault her for wanting revenge for her father Joel murdered almost everyone in that hospital to get to Ellie, there could have been a cure a REAL end to the word as they knew it a light for everyone but he couldn’t let Ellie die, and so his actions had consequences. Could they have cut it differently sure, but I don’t believe it would have been as impactful as it was. Playing as Abby is just supposed to show how fucked Ellie had gotten, I think there were scenes that were unnecessary but I think you could say that about a lot of games honestly, I didn’t care for Abby’s friends aside from Lev, I didn’t care for Ellie’s friends except for Tommy, so their deaths and exits from the story didn’t even make an impact besides shock value, all in all I still think it was a good game and the emotions it made me feel mixed with the gameplay itself was pretty enjoyable tbh

@@justingabriel1765 totally not wishful thinking there, a cure in the hands of the dying group of the fireflies would have meant a bigger group getting their hands on it, gaining power through it and give it only to few people, also most people die to older infected or "healthy" people, and the cure would do nothing to those and all this is assuming they could find a cure before the fungus started changing due to the host's death, assuming they had the knowledge and the means to actually get to a cure and the means to produce such cure, which are all extremely unlikely since they had a severe lack of both manpower and resources. The game tells you they are desperate enough to want to believe it will work but also tells you they're an extremely incompetent bunch and are out of people and resources, also the guard was chasing joel out of the hospital without paying or even letting him grab his bag, meaning no tools, weapons, supplies or anything, they wanted him dead but weren't smart enough to kill him while they had the chance.

More of a Dr Mengele than a proper doctor…considering he was gonna kill a child on the operating table based on the mere possibility of getting a cure? That logic of doing it for the ‘greater good’ is how very bad things always start. Next thing you got a camp full of ‘test subjects’ for the greater good. Y’know?🫣
