I'm interested to see how the writers solve the problem of a polarised fan base. If the show follows the same story, then it's reasonable to assume half the fans will be alienated in the same way they were with the game ...except a game has a captive audience and players play for both the story and the combat. With a show, there is only story ...what is to stop those who dont like the way it unfolds, from walking away and not tuning in next week? A TV show doesnt have a captive audience that can be contemptuously and cynically force-fed whatever story the writer thinks they should tell.

@@Martyntd5 That's a great question. and I think deep down Craig knows that the sequels plot is, at best, a story that needs major directional shifts if anyone substantial is going to watch after the first 2 episodes. I'll be watching only out of morbid curiosity. Loved the 1st season and loved the first game. Not so much the 2nd game. it was a slog to get through amd Naughty Dog is one of my favorite developers.

I don't think episode 1 is going to be what people think it is, originally it was going to be longer and I suspect that will be revisited as a concept (both the ellie side and the abby side), maybe you can do that all in 90 minutes if you want to hit the ground running.

@@tmac326 I'm sorry. I didn't mean to put down Part 1 in any way. It's one of the greatest games ever made. I was saying that Part 2 put me through so many emotions that it's kind of insane. I would love if they keep everything almost same. Him dying so early was the catalyst behind the revange & redemption arc for both Ellie & Abby. The story isn't about Joel it was over after pt1. The story was about learning to let go no matter how difficult it is.
@MayLily
@MayLily 11 ай бұрын
This is a TV series adaptation and Pedro Pascal has now become a superstar thanks to that show. They will be stupid to let him die early, unless they plan on continuing with flashbacks only. In being faithful to the game, of course Joel will die, but I felt like they rushed Season 1 so bad with only 9 episodes, they will try to expand for Season 2.
@MatiZ815
@MatiZ815 11 ай бұрын
@@MayLilyI thought season 1 was perfectly paced. It only feels rushed if you keep comparing to the game: how long the levels are, how long it took you to beat them. That doesn't translate at all. 12h game does not equal to a 12h show. Games need a lot more time to tell stories because they have to make room for gameplay which doesn’t exist in any other medium. Thanks to that, the show gave us more than the game in a shorter runtime. I’m also glad it wasn’t a slug show. I’m getting tired of all those slow burn shows which are these days apparently the only way you can make them.

@@MatiZ815 I thought they should have had a separate episode with flashbacks to the time period right after Sarah died, especially what Joel and Tommy went through and then what Joel and Tess went through and how their relationship developed.

They are not Bella's preferred pronouns. That is a misconception that has been trotted through the media, presumably by trans activists using an in-the-moment pop culture icon to posture their own views. Bella will occasionally specify in interviews that the publication can/should use the pronouns she/her. They have also commented on feeling pleased when at some point the pronouns he/his were used. I wouldn’t claim to have any insight into Bella’s personal feelings or relationships, nor do I think there’s any malice or ignorance from CM. It’s wonderful to hear people speak so highly of an emerging actor! I don’t pretend to speak for or understand Bella’s exact circumstances by any means. Casual acknowledgment of identity can feel very affirming for marginalised people in the audience, that’s the perspective I’m coming from more than leaping to defend a celebrity.

@@samanthaneill3096 I understand that, but if you're using a named celebrity (or indeed, any person at all) that isn't necessarily a fair proxy for the community you claim to be showing sensitivity towards, then that can be considered an act of posturing rather than an act of genuine empathy. I don't mean to be preachy, but sometimes good intentions don't translate to good deeds.

If you’re a fan of Bella, try to to misgender them.

that’s what I was thinking abt, hopefully this was filmed before bella said that they only use they/them pronouns bc if it wasn’t then that’s just wrong

Bella says she doesn't really care what people call her in terms of pronouns. Pay attention

Craig, admit it, the first game was a masterpiece. The sequel is a lazy, unimagined, cringeworthy story that noone will like. Please change it 🙏

If no one liked the story, then how come it has the highest completion ratio out of any PS4 game? It has a higher completion ratio among players than the first game.

@@MatiZ815 Good question. It's Because it had an incredibly EASY difficulty rating option. It's that simple. I also finished the game and hated the story the entire time. The gameplay was somewhat decent, minus lazy object placement for ammo, materials, etc.

@@mickael486 and a "grounded" mode for hardcore. What's your point. Some people just want to experience the story without getting caught up on combat and resource management challenges. I feel this is very much a positive argument because it makes the game more broadly accessible ...? Whether you hated the story is entirely up to you. Many people loved it, and the people that loved it tended to have a far more nuanced critical deconstruction of it as a piece of art, social statement, philosophical debate, examination of the self. Those that hated it seem to take the story decisions more personally - as if they were somehow owed something as a gamer before finding another golf club meme to troll with on social media.

@@MarkArnoldMusic My point?? Read the QUESTION before you question the Answer. Someone else asked the question. Why did so many people finish the 2nd game compared to any other PS game. So I answered it. I gave you the answer. No one had to give up playing because it became to difficult. It wasn't because the story was somehow better than any other PS game. It was because of the accessibility of the game, as described. I did not comment on whether or not that was a good or bad thing. It's just an option in the game and I have no problem with it, even if you would assume that I would. I don't. The problem I have with the game is how amazingly lazy the script is. Every character I loved, I wound up either hating or see die before the 2nd chapter in a manipulative and exploitive way just to give a reason why there's a sequel. All the new characters were pointless and did not move the story forward. Remove Charlie and Abs boyfriend and even Ellie's girlfriend and nothing of note changes the narrative. Hell, I even hated Tommy because he turned into a vengeful asshole for guilt tripping Ellie, who happens to be the LITERAL possible CURE for mankind, to go out on a mindless revenge quest clear across the fuxking country to kill someone that actually had a good reason to kill his brother. It was Dumb and lazy. Unless you're below the age of 12, or never read a book or watched a good drama, the story was a crushing pretentious bore thinking it was this insightful moral play when it was just a shoehorned sermon about who is really a good person or a bad person, really... And they threw in a trangender person or two in there to make it seem like it was groundbreaking and brave. It was an insult to my intellegence. There are plenty of honest YT reviews on this subject if you care to understand why there was such a large group of people that hated it. and sure, I wasn't happy that Joel died in the beginning, but that was ok. What I hated was that THAT was it. THAT was the story. To seek revenge on the people that did it. As if I needed to sit through this 15 hour amateur story to realize that everyone in the world sucks, including everyone in this shitty game. I already knew the former. I was hoping I wouldn't wind up hating everyone in the game by the end of it. And if they don't change things drastically, for the HBO show, I'm willing to bet people are going to stop watching before the half of it is over. Having said that, the original is a masterpiece and set the bar for video game story telling that has yet to succeed it.

Craig will only make season 2 worse. part two game operates at the expense of violence and cruelty and he will just take it away. I'm sure🥲
