This... Ellie is young and has different expectations of what her immunity means. She thought rubbing her blood on Sam would help him and she trusted Marlene that they would run tests while she's fully conscious and then she was free to go. The fireflys are dumb by being so aggressive and flash banging them... which could have possibly hurt her. They failed basic communication to collect her w/o aggression even though Joel did all the hard work by getting her there, half their man died making the same journey cross country and the guy couldn't even cover baby Ellie's ears when instructed ... just basic shit they managed to fuck up lol. They really expect to find the cure in one go while killing the only immune person at the same time instead of keeping her alive to run some more tests.

I believe she would've most likely have chosen to sacrifice herself but the fact that she wasn't given a choice, and Joel didn't either, but he had good reason. There had to have been another way, and they didn't even try to find it before resulting to her brain getting cut out.

So the captions didn’t spoil it, you just missed her being called Ellie if that makes sense? She says right after she gives birth and picks her up how ‘you tell them, you fucking tell them Ellie’ this happens before the intro and before she tells Marlene Ellie’s name. They are talking about the thing you addressed… because it’s funny because it’s only because you missed it by talking and looking away for a second. Along with the first bite reveal which happens I’m that same part as well.

I love that both the game and the series leave Joel's decision up to interpretation, whether it's "right" or "wrong." This a wonderful example of the morally grey area, where neither side is fully right nor wrong. Even if the Fireflies managed to make a "cure," they would most likely not distribute it to everyone, especially since they hate FEDRA. The world would still be broken, probably even more so if a cure was made (this is my interpretation, this isn't spoilers or anything :])

When my dad and I watched the episode, we both missed the part where Marlene said she didn't tell Ellie about what was going on. So we were both mad thinking Ellie had made the choice and Joel took it away from her in the show. Luckily my dad decided to go back and check, so we both think that the Fireflies in the show might actually be worse than in the game.

I don't think they told her in the game either. It's made clear later that she was willing to die for the surgery, but she wasn't given that choice in the moment. What was Joel supposed to do? Assume that she'd say yes?

I was only mad at show Joel because I didn't see that Marlene said Ellie didn't know and therefore hadn't made the choice in the show either. Why I think it's worse in the show is that in the show she is CONSCIOUS when they make this decision to not tell her. In the game the Fireflies find Joel doing cpr on Ellie, and they didn't wait for her to wake up to make the decision to do surgery.

Also all of the emotional confusion y'all felt at the end is exactly what you should feel, you're not alone there; the creators wanted this to be a story about how love can be both beautiful and terrible and can incite terrible violence when someone wants to protect the person they love most. We aren't supposed to support Joel's actions but understand them, and of course we do cuz we love Ellie. But his choice is also incredibly brutal and selfish, especially his choice to lie to Ellie. And no spoilers for the future, but this choice will affect Joel and Ellie moving forward in ways they both could never expect and also should expect, given what has happened. I can't wait for season 2 but also I want to delay it as much as possible because the emotional turmoil is not over yet 😢 I loved watching y'all's reactions to this show and I hope you end up playing the game if you can! It's an amazing experience I couldn't recommend more, truly one of the most amazing stories out there and certainly one of the best games of all time.

The fact that people who love Thanos, the person willing to sacrifice half the population of the world for a chance of a better world can't side with Marlene, a woman who reluctantly gave up Ellie, the girl she cares for just for a chance of a cure that may save their world from a plague that doomed their society. Marlene embodied "The hardest of choices required the strongest of wills" I honestly feel bad for Marlene. When she confronted Joel she could have just shot him right there and then, but she still tried to talk Joel out of it, trying to spare him even though he ended a lot of her men. The chance of a cure isn't guaranteed but a chance is enough to risk it, plus it's what Ellie would have wanted, that's why SPOILER... she was angry with Joel in the sequel and that's why Joel hid the truth from her the entire time.

They should have asked Ellie. They violated her bodily autonomy by lying to her. Although, i think she would have agreed to do it. The last scene where she was telling Joel about Riley, Tess, and Sam was her telling him how much she takes their deaths very personally, and that if she could do anything to prevent more people from dying , she would want to do what was necessary.

I put off watching the finale almost 2 weeks because I didn't want it to be over! So dumb, but not ready to say goodbye. My fav eps were 3 (Bill & Frank, obvs) and 6 (great scenes with Joel/Tommy and Joel/Ellie). I need both Pedro and Bella to win Emmys. Great reaction pumpkins! It’s a real conundrum at the end. This is art that doesn’t let you off the hook. It demands more of your thoughts and emotions than you might have realised you were signing up for. The game is no less conflicting and I think it is a real testament to the quality of the writing in the game that it has translated so well to the show. They took that flawless source material and did an incredible job with the show in every aspect. Going into this, I was fully sided with ‘game Ellie’ and never thought anybody could usurp her. In fact I was a little salty that anyone might have the audacity to try. And Bella hasn’t, but she has made the part her own in a different way and they now occupy the same hallowed place in my heart. Some of the best acting I’ve ever seen. Perhaps the best show I’ve ever seen.

:( them showing how ellie got immune in the beginning is meant to show how her immunity was pure dumb luck. a lot of things had to happen and align for her immunity to happen. I think it was meant to make Joel's decision even more heartbreaking. Ellie constantly talked about saving the world and making her immunity mean something. that's why Joel lied coz he knew Marlene was right, that Ellie would choose to die for a cure in a heartbeat. This show, man 😭

I did watch them react to wednesday as well due to this. I love their reactions, but have tried to watch some horror reactions, and just couldn't get through it

@@zen-sufi lol duh, you didnt have to be so obvious, and I was referring to them watching last of us cause it won't compare to other shows or other movies they react to, watching Last of us with them is one of kind experience for me and will only happen again when season two will be out. Again I meant I will miss them reacting to last of us lol, again you didnt have to state the obvious lol

I love these two reactors. They're funny but not annoying unlike some reactors on KZbin. The Last of Us season one is done but I'm still going to be on the lookout for their reaction videos. Petty Pumpkin's channel notification is so on. 👍👍
