Remember a bit after TLOU came out and everyone had ended it the sudden internet backlash of people saying Joel was selfish, and doomed the world. That was pretty much my exact words. If this game has multiple endings I'd still have killed those doctors and got Ellie out. Objectively letting them hack up Ellie is the better choice for humanity but I just refused.

Actually, it's not Troy Baker singing here. He learned and recorded the song, indeed. But they ended up using another's voice. It pissed Baker off, and he reacted on it in an interview with Ellie's voice actress. They were all pretty embarrassed because that's when Troy Baker discovered that his rendition of the song hadn't been kept in the final game. Not very classy on Naughty Dog's part.

I love this, because it lets us imagine happy memories that we didn't get to see during the game. I imagine Joel teaching Ellie how to play guitar, teaching her this song and then singing and playing it together. Maybe they even played it for an audience in Jackson one night, and I can imagine Ellie's grin and Joel's small smile as they finish the last note under applause. It's so bittersweet...

I personally don't understand why some people hate the game so much. The original game was breathtaking because it was as I said original, but a sequel isn't always about making a game series better. It's about expanding the universe that we have come to love. Naughty Dog created the second game to show that there are consequences to certain actions, and that every story has two sides which in this case are Ellie's story and Abby's story. Ellie eventually came to see that vengeance against Abby for killing Joel wouldn't change anything, and Abby discovered that even those she considered her enemies and evil isn't always the case especially with Yara and Lev. In a twisted sense of irony Abby became Joel, helping a stranger whom they eventually came to deeply care for.

I think I prefer most of the setpieces over LOU1, just because of the many options you have in very open spaces. When I played Uncharted 4, I was like "Sigh, I kinda don't care... but can I have this in LOU2 please?" And I got it. That part where you sneak through several houses and people use dogs against you was very intense. I wish the multiplayer would return, with that one as a stage, complete with hiding in tall grass.

Having infinite ammo isn't realistic, but even TLOU2 has to back down from the realism every once in a while. The whole point of video games is to escape from the real world, a game can be TOO realistic.

I wouldn't say "forgive" is the right word here. You could never forgive someone for an action like that. I think that she simply lets her go because she manages to see that there are more sides of the story. Also the loss of her fingers symbolizes that Ellie's lust for revenge has lost its meaning, and that she is strarting to forget what she is avenging in the first place.

She definitely did not forgive Abby nor may she ever, but I would say that she realized that revenge was not worth it anymore...killing Abby would only leave room for regret and would also cause pain to Lev in return sparking possibly another attempt at revenge against Ellie. Another part that played in Ellie sparing Abby would be Joel’s teachings. When she lost her two fingers it meant she could no longer play guitar...her last close tie with Joel. Let me just say that I thought this game was amazing and it’s the first game I would even consider giving a 10/10. And I’m not hating on your comment, only pointing out what I see!

I mourned everyone. It was gut wrenching. The character I just wanted to die, I ended up connecting to. Abby was in ellies spot and after getting her vengeance looked like she realized nothing really changed. Her father was still dead and killing Joel didn't change that or really make it better. Tommy was lost and broken. Abby was shattered and ellie was left alone which was her biggest fear of all. Anybody saying this game is trash, either didn't play it or really can't deal with a non fairy tale ending.

Game looks good from a graphical standpoint as well as a gameplay one but i dont think its a 10/10. Some of the writing just wasnt good in my opinion. The whole reason joel and tommy were able to get jumped was because of bad writing. TLOU 1 joel would never trust strangers, let alone walk into a room outnumbered and outgunned by them. Thats my big problem with this game along with others. The original characters dont really FEEL like the originals. They simply look the same and have the same name. Thats my opinion though, no hate

People who don’t like the game dislike it because they don’t look at it from a narrative standpoint. They can’t look past the fact that joel died to enjoy the game. Even though I’m sour about that, I can’t deny that this game is one of the best i have ever played. I got to go through the stages of grief with ellie,. I got to follow her to the ends of the earth for revenge, I got to watch her experience loss because of it, I got to watch her live through the trauma and follow abby to the ends of the earth AGAIN for revenge, only to finally get what her and I both came for, and give it all up because we knew it’s not what joel would’ve wanted. And when she tried to play future days but couldn’t because of her fingers, I felt at peace somehow. I felt like ellie had finally realized killing abby wouldn’t bring joel back, and I got to realize it too. This song in the credits just made me cry so differently. When he died, I cried out of anger and frustration. When this song played in the credits, I cried because I was sad and melancholic. Like I was finally grieving instead of looking for a pound of flesh. Games aren’t just about being happy and the main character living happily ever after, some of the best games actually end with the main character dying... a game isn’t shitty because it makes you sad, it’s amazing BECAUSE it can make you feel something so strong. 10/10, worth the money for me. (Please feel free to correct my grammar, I know it is terrible 😅)

Ellie, the mournful tone in your singing (well done Ashley) hit me right there in the heart. Man, who turned on the tears machine.....heavy, sad, with a touch of longing. Ellie, you were Joel's daughter whether you admitted it or not. He loved you so much, he went to hell and back again and again. The irony he saves the life of Abby, the daughter of the surgeon he killes to save Ellie. I have to stop crying now.....what a sad, mournful, 360 degree circle. Well done with the music

As sad as this game may be, I loved it just as much as the Last of Us Part I. They both tell much different stories, but very important ones. Hearing Ellie sing about one day meeting her parents again, and Joel sing about meeting his savior just tugs at my heart strings. It’s sad that people couldn’t understand this game for what it was.

I cried when I played The Last of Us and I cried when I played The Last of Us Part II. I cried when I heard this and remembered their journey. A Beautiful, Sad, Heartfelt, vengeful, Journey. Joel loved Ellie too much to let her sacrifice the rest of live which costed Hope for Humanity and Abby's father. Both are victim of their fathers who were taken from each other.
