I like how Maria sounds like a mom to Ellie, like she's the gentle push to remind Ellie to like be softer at times where I'm sure Tommy and Joel were not so great in. You really hear the mom tone when she says "so you're just gonna sneak out of here?" I like it, shows that they all built relationships and they're not just there in the game and we're supposed to believe they're family because they say so

I noticed that in their dialogue how shes very familiar with Ellies stubborn nature. “but I know you better..” I also like how her personality and demeanor is head strong and serious showing she really someone thats in charge at Jackson.

I hated Ellie in this first scene. I know she had it under control and wanted to handle Seth on her own, but I wished she would’ve realized that Joel was only trying to help and protect her. There were so many other ways she could’ve handled that.

@@digimonalvatrax2738 I did play the game… several times. I still stand by what I said two years ago. There were so many other ways she could have handled that situation. If she were angry that Joel wasn’t letting her handle things on her own or because he was being too overprotective, she should have gone to him privately and told him to back off in a calm manner. Not cuss at and disrespect him at a family event in front of Joel’s family and friends. You can’t convince me that in any situation, her behavior was called for. 🤷‍♀️

4:06 people don't talk enough about how maria respected and understood ellie enough to know not to bother trying to stop her. both tommy and joel would've tried and ended up failing, but maria knew from the beginning that no one can keep ellie out of seattle. i respect that about her

2:55 So I guess she really didn’t know about what Joel did at Saint Mary’s Hospital. I thought Joel might have told her after he and Ellie fell out, but he probably considers the story too personal to tell his sister-in-law, and doing so might betray Ellie’s trust even further... Of course, seeing how Maria already knew Ellie is immune, but Tommy said he’d take Joel’s story to the grave, she would have either had to believe basically what Joel told Ellie or keep her suspicions to herself. (She’s never met an immune person before, but Joel claimed there were “dozens”?? Eh?) Or maybe she knew that Ellie was unconscious when they brought her into the hospital and until she and Joel were well away from there, and worked out the truth from that and seeing Ellie and Joel falling out?

The motion and facial capture is so good in this game. Probably the best I've seen outside of a Hollywood movie. Lip sync is the hardest thing to mail in a video game and this is the closest it's ever been. The other bring unchartered 4, another naughty dog game.

Maria is more of a leader rather a fighter. I guess she can hold her own just fine but Abby is a solely fighter. Similarly to Joel, Tommy or Ellie for that sake.

i dont get it..why is Maria black in the series.. why is Joe's daughter half black?? why are they pushing this diversity agenda when it is not needed? how come they didnt make sam/henry white?? This is coming from a middle-eastern who has no preference for white/black... but just keep it authentic to the game and also Elliee looks nothing like her actor..there were plenty more people who could have fit the role
