It's performances like what Troy and Ashley did for the Last of Us that make the think video games need some categories at the Oscars. Obviously it's not motion picture work, but the overlap for many parts the production of some games and movies is pretty big. Take Avatar for example. A large portion of the movie was shot on a MoCap stage. Not exclusively like TLOU but a good majority of it was, and Avatar was nominated for Best Picture and and Best Director at the Oscars and won the same two categories at The Golden Globes. Video games need more credit for the work the do in both acting, directing, even animation and special effects.

Nick Gillotti I agree that video game developers and everyone else involved in the process deserves much more respect and recognition for what they do, but including categories for video games in the Oscars is pretty ridiculous. If you were to add video games, then why not television? Why not comic books or music (I know best song/score exist, but those are tied to movies)? The whole point of the Oscars is that it's an awards ceremony for all the different aspects of film, and I say we start adding more categories for the under-appreciated people like casting directors and script supervisors before we go unnecessarily adding in entire new media to the mix.

I'm glad that joel was a.... calmer character and you could clearly see that he has self control. Despite the fact of his character being a complete... savage when he wants too. That character trait alone let's me know how wise a person is. When they can go too 0 to 100. But still ONLY when they feel and know when its necessary. I don't think I would of liked Joel being just as aggressive as ellie. Two hots heads can be overwhelming. Joel has a big heart underneath all that defense. And I think we would of missed that if he was just as aggressive as ellie. I'm glad they didn't cast the man right before him lol

I normally don't add comments, but I think this interview--THESE TWO PEOPLE--really deserve it. So often interviews it is spoiled with constant interruptions and forced conversations, but this felt so natural, like we were peeking in through the window and just watching two friends talk and tell stories, sincerely, openly, and sweetly. Everything Troy is saying, he truly does relate to the character of Joel. There's huge similarities between Ellie and Ashley, they connect and reflect off of each other in that way. But the way in which Troy is so open and honest and truly connected to this ... world that they play characters in, it's truly incredible. He is emotional about it and he truly means what he says, whilst at the same time he holds back because he doesn't want to be awkward. I'm sure a lot of us feel like this in these situations, but everything that has happened... I think the character I can truly relate to is Troy baker. Everything he has said about the game, everything he has put through to the audience to make them understand is just exactly what I've tried to do. I'm sure just like me, he would accept in his mind that this world is in a way, his. And I love him for it.
