Fun fact, this episode is the one episode Druckman (the game director and writer) directed himself. Interestingly, it features one of the few non-game segments with the intro and it’s filmed spectacularly. The show is so good and does look exactly like the game so much. I have to emphasize though, this isn’t a story BASED on a game, this story IS the game. They added and very slightly changed a few things (tops 10% total) from the game, but the story in the show and the vast majority of the dialogue is word for word from the game. I heard it well described like this “The game that was made to look like a prestige HBO series, is now a prestige HBO series.”

Well yes she IS sure. She does NOT have the infection. Remember they told her that infection starts almost immediately. Like within minutes. IF she had been infected, she'd have already started showing signs.

The cordycepts grows in the mouth as it spreads. When you get bit some of it transfers into your system.

As the fungus spreads the look changes, also as it grows on the brain eating up the host from the inside it will slowly grow outwards through the skull and the skin. As the fungus spreads the infected themselves sort of changes, like from a normal runner to a clicker like the one we saw in this episode. Obviously this is because the original enemies are from video games and needs enemies of different power levels to fight lol but it's a fun way to translate that.

Just saw your channel on my feed. Glad it came up. Great reactions to this show. I haven’t read all your comments so I don’t know if anyone has mentioned this to you yet but the cordyceps fungus is real. Like the part in 1968 says, it only effects insects like an ant for example. If you haven’t yet Google “cordyceps fungus insects” and look at the pictures. It’s really freaky. I’ve played the first game around 12 times and the second 8 times. The TV series is amazing. You knew Tess was a badass when Robert was interrogating her. Even though he had two guys backing him up, he was still terrified of Tess. In the fight with the Clickers in the museum, Joel used his .44 pistol and M4 against the Clickers. Tess used an axe. Badass or what?

You can't out run clickers. because if you run you make sound and making sound you tell them where you are. Not only can they hear really well, they extremely fast. the best way to either get past them or get close enough to kill them is to be as quiet as you can. Clickers are lethal as hell.

even though this opening is a sub plot that's not in the actual game. This actress is doing an epic job of selling her performance. She's being professional enough to tell the army what needs to be done and then the realization of what she just says hits her and the restrained emotions she's feeling just start to build and build with the other realization that she won't live for much longer. She already knows it's too late; otherwise she would not have said "Bomb." Just a very strong an real emotional performance. I gladly acknowledge her that. I'm not a fan of Bell Ramsey and I don't think I ever will be for her as Ellie, but all in all, a decent first season. It definitely has its issues, but I'm here for this doctor and her amazing, yet short performance.
