Altough the game is supposed to be in the horror gernre too, due to obvious reasons, it never gave me that feeling. This may sound very dumb but I only got to play this game recently and I fell in love. Not with the Gameplay, Graphics or Story in particular but more so the whole picture it paints. The feeling when you first enter the collapsing building, the first time ever in a one-on-one with infected, the relief you have when you make it out. The hotel, how cool the lobby looked but then the basement section and once you exit that place. Sam and Henry through the canals and the suburb, the first time you see Tommy again, you tell Ellie to jump onto your horse and the Uni section. It all gives such a feeling-good feeling, i dont know why but I played this game 3 times, 1 once remastered and 2 remakes within 2 years. I dont plan on plsying part 2, i know the story and I dont like it.

Well if i may interject with the opinion of a games design and development student whos writing an essay on tlou2. It was rushed and there were a few unnecessary plotlines aswell as too much duel narrative abuse. Naughty dog were trying to go for a duel narrative game but the way they did it could have been improved. By a long shot. The graphics and gameplay even the menus and improved animations and buffs you could get were worlds better than the og game and thats bearing in mind the time difference of production and what was available at the time. But especially with the gore item distribution crafting and even weapon mods they were all made realistically. Unlike in the first game, it was made more video game like because it is obviously a game and not real life. But that meant there were times where you had too much ammo and the game wasn't challenging enough , that happened alot less in the second one. Story wise the Dina and ellie relationship felt too forced aswell as the subplot being she was pregnant it was written poorly in my opinion and sometimes i feel it was stupid. My main example is that you played most of seattle as ellie alone or with Jesse. Meanwhile what was Dina doing apparently mapping out the radios and sleeping which isnt that helpful to Ellie considering she could die at any moment on her own surrounded by infected scars or WLFs, whereas when you play as abby you have mel with you and she is way further in the pregnancy taking on infected getting boosted up walls jumping across platforms and so much more despite being told to rest up a bit. Mel even admits she wants to take as much time working while pregnant as possible so she is still contributing to the group and not sitting there being or feeling useless by doing nothing just because she's pregnant. Sometimes when playing you'll see something happen and the characters will adress it to show they are informing eachother of something offscreen or something like that bus sometimes its unneeded for example when Abby and Manny are chasing Tommy they discuss how they want to combat him ect but at one point one of them says "he's shooting at us" or something along those lines even though its pretty obvious he is and very unnecessary to point out. Thanks naughty dog didn't know that we were being shot at especially since if i get out of cover i get a bullet put through me. It's a reacurring theme in part 2 for them to force a narrative. Be it cutscenes things you can pick-up or speech pointers. They like forcing jokes and narratives which was the same in the first game but it was done better and was more narrative and plot reminders, not forcing ideas. But there were ideas that were a good breakup of constant running and shooting and long exploration that helped the game move forward such as the guitar segments and some of the flashbacks. Which brought humanity back to the game too aswell as more Joel. Overall verdict its not the best game in existence. But it's still a good game its not perfect but neither was the original. And youre welcome to not like it but you can't say it's bad or the worst if you only dislike it for Joel dying or for the mentality that the origional didn't need a sequal. But again everyone has an opinion this is mine. You have yours abd you can stick by it but please consider others opinions and be open to why its a good game to them it doesn't mean you have to like it or change your opinion. It just means be open to understand others.
