Perth's last tram driven by Bill Davies from Inglewood terminus to the East Perth Carbarn July 19 1958. Tram number 66 with plinthed at The Perth Zoo for many years, do you recall that?

Tragic. So tragic. When I think of all the Japanese, European and other cities that have thriving trams networks still, not to mention Melbourne; and then all the loss of our architectural heritage along the Terrace... and so much more. Governments of WA in the mining boom era from the 50s to the 70s have so much to be ashamed of. And it continues with the loss of country rail services to the wheatbelt and suchlike today.

I 100% agree with you on that. Perth was a great place to visit. The old boans looked so beautiful and interesting. Plus coles in the city. Especially the the food court. Great food and genuinely friendly staff. The modern perth is absolutely hideous plain boring modern cookie cutter buildings. "Someone Please" . Build A real time machine theirs alot of people plus myself that would seriously prefer to go back to good old days of the 20th century. The 50s or the 60s would be perfect .

@@paulrawcliffe8057 I was unfortunately born much later to experience the pre-modernised Perth. There aren't too many footage of the 50s-60s online, but those that I managed to see portrayed the city with so much life and characters. Perth now although looks clean and modern, feels souless with endless rows of office buildings and looks like a ghost town once people finished working. It is no longer a place for people to hang around and have fun, but a white-collar hellscape.

I had the fun of riding on the trams a few times when I was very little in the mid-late 50's

We still had what we called trolley buses after this. They ran on overhead wires too. Not sure what the difference is between a tram and a trolley bus. One of my earliest memories is being taken on the trolley bus from Mt Hawthorne to Scarborough Beach and back. Must have been around 1965.

The difference between a tram and a trolley bus is that a tram runs on tracks while a trolley bus does not
