My dad narrated this, Art Rockwood. He had an incredible voice, and it's nice to hear it again. Thanks for posting.

Magical. Thanks so much for this. As a retired seafarer I could almost smell the Atlantic spray.

Those five folk are great musicians. Thank you. Newfoundland is a storehouse of British and Irish culture. The relationships here in Europe are up in the air just now. Newfoundlanders can help remind us that our shared transatlantic culture has deep strengths and needs rebuilding.

That's right. While the British have an identity crisis I, an accordion player and solid Newfoundlander can attest that we have no such qualms with where we come from

We did the three week trip from St. John's to Nain and back in the early 70's. My brother and I were likely 12 & 13. Best trip ever for a family from Toronto. We were the first supply ship of the season to many of the most northern communities. It was quite the celebration in every port.

Same here. Tried to get it from CBC but they wouldn't release it because of the music I think ... this a PUBLIC broadcaster who paid for the show with OUR tax dollars .... I figure that alone makes it PUBLIC PROPERTY.

The best years of my life were spent working on this ship as 3rd off,2nd off, 1st off, and Master on this vessel,I last visited this vessel at the Louis Basin in Quebec after it was sold to a Quebec company to conduct tours on the St.Lawrence River ,I don't think the enterprise amount to anything, sand the vessel was beached in the are of Petite Riverea P.Q.

was it a cruise ship or an ocean liner?

What a great show. I wish they would have done something similar for the MV Caribou and Smallwood when they retired them.

My father was a crew member on the Bonavista for many years, and would have made this trip a few times. I remember him speaking of Capt. "Jobby" Kean.

North American built steel vessels last 100 years or more with proper maintenance. Why are we replacing these great vessels with boats built in China?
