PIAT has a predecessor, called the Blacker Bombard, that was used as a cheap semi mobile anti tank gun, and it used a big ole explosive warhead. Huge. It had some successes (especially in North Africa) at the point where the Boys was mainly obsolete and 2pdr and 6pdr guns were in short supply. Bombards needed to be pinned to the ground due to their huge recoil energy, or fitted to massive concrete stands, so they weren't practical for chasing tanks. Anyway, Blacker (the designer) got involved with the next generation of portable antitank equipment, and the big spring at the heart of PIAT is mainly there to solve the problem of shoulder firing a mortar. Yes, the spring helps a little to propel the shaped charge warhead, but the propellant charge does most of the work. PIAT was multipurpose, and you'll see that they have a second sighting system on the side (with a spirit level) for indirect fire on static targets out to around 300m. Us Brits didn't love them too much, but Canadian and Polish units adored them, using them as a multipurpose tool for harassment and bunker busting. There's one encounter where a Canadian crew put 300 PIAT round out, so it definitely had it's moments as a great way to place high explosive when and where you needed it. Apologies for rambling 😅

And the one downside of the peat is that if the spring doesn’t automatically load itself? You have to hold it like a pogo stick and then pull it back but the upside is you can have as big as you want if you modify it because you don’t have to fit it in a barrel, it just goes on the end.

In my opinion the British grenadier class is better at being at than the actual at class because you get 5 grenades which are already powerful on their own and you get 2 gammon bombs, one gammon bomb can take out any truck, halftrack, or light tank in the game they can also obliterate any heavy tanks engine if you throw em on the engine deck

22:20 I have to remind you that the smoke grenade british used and in the game is No.77 'White Phosphorus' Smoke Grenade which is the same kind that became famous during vietnam war. It's cool that game devs made that if you exposed to the smoke made by that grenade you will take burn damage btw(the moment you put mine on the tiger tank you got hit on the phosphorus grenade as well I had been hit by the phosphorus smoke grenade and got killed by it during my gameplay)
