Man it would be great to see a high budget remake or sequel to this. A deeply slept on cult classic with tons of heart. They don't write movies like this anymore. Time to bring AWESOME back!

1:57..🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣. absolutely love this film since I was a kid...I'm 42 now and still love it...Great story and I really really hope that they get the sequel called the last starfighters off its feet...plus the theme is one of the best themes ever made.

Great movie, love everything about i t. But......how big is that frontier? I mean I assume those barrier things go on for lightyears. So that any ship trying to go around it would exhaust all their resources before reaching the end in any direction?

They needed the best pilots to push the "kill everything" death blossom button.
@stt5v20026 жыл бұрын
Not actually a plot hole. Death blossom was an experimental weapon that was only on Alex's ship. That ship was not located in the main base, or it would have been destroyed with the other gunstars. The weapon was short range and not ready for deployment as it depleted all the energy reserves in the ship, leaving it helpless. The good guys expected to have 20+ ships in a large scale battle. DB only worked because there was just one ship left and the Kodan had it completely surrounded at close ranges, were not aware of it, and were ambushed leaving the command ship unable to simply blast Alex's powerless ship. This was all made clear in the movie, so I think the scene holds up even if it is a bit of deus ex machina.
@normanlee66095 жыл бұрын
Death Blossom is a new prototype weapon. It's didn't exist before now. Previous Star Fighters only had the standard aim and shoot tech. So, no, your joke fails for the lack of factual accuracy
@peterp21533 жыл бұрын
Don’t be silly. The reason they had to use it was because it was a single ship vs a whole armada. Up to that point, Alex was wrecking the Ko-Dan fleet. The problem was it was they were outnumbered like 100-to-1. That’s too much even for the best Starfighter in the galaxy.

@EVAUnit4A6 жыл бұрын
Oh, do NOT even jinx it like that, because you KNOW Hollywood will find SOME WAY to drain all the life energy out of any sequel or reboot! _The Last Starfighter_ is a product of the early 1980s and is best viewed _in_ the 1980s; this is proven when someone comes along and _complains_ that "the planetoid/asteroid looks like a lump of modeling clay".

I read somewhere that with the limitations of the processing power, it would’ve taken at least another year to render the way they envisioned. Plus god knows how much $$$ to lease the Cray supercomputers for another year.
@toomanyaccounts3 жыл бұрын
@@peterp2153 crays at the time were the supercomputers to have. i have actually been in a room at a school that had an old cray. the floor of the place was quite chilly. it was using the old tape reel storage. i have even seen and helped take apart an old washing machine sized hard drive that held an impressive one megabyte of storage. the part that held the data was quite large chunk of metal.

The Frontier endured for a long time and kept the KoDan at bay But on Earth artificial barriers don't have the same fate because they are ill conceived and ultimately end in shallow rhetoric and a symbol of financial burden to the ones desiring the ill conceived barrier.

Compared to current CGI....yes. But in it's day, this movie was the very FIRST to use full CGI instead of models as was still in use in 1984. A rather daring and bold move, I dare say.
