To put it in the simplest way i can the storm is a phenomenon that is not well understood. Everytime it occurs all non arcanists are basically erased from excistance and time is reversed. Knowing that the storm is coming and theres nothing they can do about it they decide to spend the last moments eating together as sharing meals together was important to the pair of sisters.
