Coming back to this after watching the swamp fever episode again I now understand the chant. Most likely the chant was made after the extinction or during the extinction of the bees. "How will I be if there's nothing to taste" referring to the lack of honey "Who should I wait for when a light comes to fade" probably referres which diety to pray to in your last moments In the end it's probably known to not work by the survivors but they kept that grim part quiet to give the unfortunate pony a last sense of hope before the painful and scary ending

ok, so this has got to be one of the most amazing films for mlp g5 I've seen that could tie with the mlp gen 4 lore. I was actually pretty scared and felt bad for sunny's father. if this was possibly canon, I would have chills down my spine. we never knew where her father went or what caused his disappearance. we all assumed he just died somehow. this would truly explain why he disappeared! its even more heartbreaking to sunny because he had never told her why or what he's been doing knowing that she would do anything to help her father but he wanted to protect not just her but everybody else too! I didn't think about the flash bees being extinct after so many years but its scarier the flower would STILL exist and they are ponies that can't help but spread the disease. not only are they the victim but the cause of it now and its terrifying. you did a truly outstanding job.

Argyle is a hero. He reminds me a lot of Guy de Chauliac, a physician during the black death outbreak of the 1300s. He caught it himself and decided to extensively document what was happening to him and what treatments did or didn't help. He wanted to at least leave a record behind so someone else could perhaps use it. Chauliac ended up surviving, but I can see the parallels here. Argyle knows he is going to die. So he documents all he can so at least someone will learn something from his death. I personally view this footage as Sunny finding the recorder and skipping through several days of Argyle measuring the growth rates of roots or him just theorizing. If something were to happen, he left behind everything Sunny needs to know to save the world should swamp fever make a comeback. It was incredibly painful to watch him struggle and panic at the end (the 'my legs are too hard' line made me unable to sleep), but as horrifying as this was, I choose to salute a man who left behind valuable knowledge in hopes that it could save others.

This is one of the most effective works of MLP horror I've ever seen. The jumpy, lo-fi camera angles capture the home video tone perfectly, and the cold, clinical, dispassionate tone of much of the narration is rather creepy. I'll admit that Argyle's head bouncing up and down like a ragdoll was a bit distracting, but not enough to impact the video overall. Other users have already made all the points I was going to make about the ending, but one can only wonder in the days before the Flashbee cure was discovered whether mercy killings were a common occurrence in Hayseed Swamp. In summary, you did an excellent job of taking a small bit of MLP's weird and bizarre lore and turning it into a horror story. Seeing as the trees themselves produce the plant, Sunny and co. might need to take the flamethrower to Hayseed Swamp once more.

Ok I have mixed feelings and opinions on this: 1. Considering how swap fever is contagious and the images in the beginning looked like either zip or pip to me makes me think that at some point they went looking for argyle to bring him back in this au and got infected themselves and with the cure now being non-existent that means a pandemic of people turning into trees with no hope of survival with newly discovered earth pony magic possibly speeding up the infection process, and 2. The fact that he set the swamp he was in on fire right before he turned into a tree and this virus spreads through spores from the orange spotted flowers this means that all of the spores from the orange spotted flowers were released into the air with the wind carrying them away to who knows where because the flowers containing them burned away

Apparently most people forget that he was able to record all the information with his camera. In any case, if setting fire to the flowers was in vain and his body spread spores, Whoever finds the recordings can anticipate and decide to burn down the entire forest, although taking into account how mushrooms work... it would be best to enclose the entire swamp. Enclose it in some gigantic dome, perhaps in a multi-layered dome to prevent the spread of spores as they burn inside.

One thing people don't point out but I personally find the most interesting is that in Argyles final moments he regrets putting his beliefs on sunny thinking he was in the wrong for doing so and he will never know what sunny will do for all 3 pony races

haha thanks xoxoxo I saw that the second I remembered what swamp fever actually does to a pony xoxox im still quit shocked that they allowed this topic of infection in a kids show xooxox this animating just showed how terrifying it really is xoox and the impact it leave on anyone xoxox by the end of it I realised that his legs can't move cuz that usually where the infection attacks first so the body organism stay put long enough for the tree to take root xoxox sense the tree is growing through his legs and his stomach it has already been rooted into the ground that second he collapsed xoxoxo

A truly brilliant work of fan animation-especially given this was made entirely by one person. You succesfully tap into the primal fear we all have of suffering a fate worse than death (especially given Argyle's only way out here is being set ablaze). Whilst watching, I did notice some interesting things. Assuming the viewer is meant to assume the role of Sunny in the video (as suggested by the footage cut shortly before Argyle succumbs), I suspect somepony got to the footage before she did and spliced other things in. This would explain the subtitles (as for obvious reasons Argyle would be unable to add them after he drops the camera), the random cuts to older footage at the start and end, and the sudden jumps in Argyle's deteriorating state. Seriously impressive stuff nontheless. I think I've found something to show my fellow bronies at a Nightmare Night party.

The terrifying thing about this is…it could totally have happened, and this is why Argyle is no longer alive…and to see the terrifying transformation of him turning into a tree before our very eyes and his last words being him calling for help… Seriously this is one of the few MLP FIM horror projects to leave me feeling absolutely terrified and even feeling sick to my stomach… Good luck sleeping tonight every Pony 😰 Good luck getting sleep tonight everypony!!!

This is disturbing as fuck. Reminds me of Captain Keyes and him getting infected by The Flood. He also had a daughter and the parasite stole his memory. And this isn’t just a way to say the parasite learned of the memory, pretty sure Keyes just lost the memory all together after assimilation. Kind of like Alzheimer’s but worse since now you’re a mindless and forsaken mutation of a human who’s doing the bidding of an all consuming and corrupting parasite with the intent to destroy everything in the universe. Now back to this specific video. Honestly I’m surprised he waited that long to burn the whole place to the ground. I’m not sure I’d wait. Not even sure I’d have the balls to stay around much longer afterwards when the deed is donr. The most I’d do is scorching the whole swamp if I can, then make sure nothing is left behind in some nook or cranny. Then make sure nothing grows from my tree via fire. It’s morbid sure but pony/human lives are at stake and hopefully the results will speak for themselves. I’d also leave tapes but I’d make sure to keep them brief and to the point. This of course is only hypothetical. I have no idea how I’d actually react but at that point you’d have little choice but to make sure this never happens to anyone else. Also this isn’t meant to knock on the video. It’s still very well made. Now for the actual criticisms… I don’t have much to really add or critique. I do feel like the initial presentation is almost trying too hard but the second part with the cam-recording more than makes up for it. Especially since it’s an actually unique infection type with an extremely high amount of dread and pure desperation packed in it. Great stuff, Maka. Now let’s really hope Argyole (spelled correctly?) doesn’t grow another flower.

watching argyle turn into a tree was absolutely horrifying, i really hate horror because i get so paranoid from it but im also so gosh darn curious about the story and my goodness gracious this is so well made but oh man if i get nightmares after this then mmmmmmmhkgjhhhhh 👍 ok but when you mentioned mage meadowbrook i was like holdup isnt that the girl from that one epsiode and bro swamp fever is the actual disease from the episode and they actually turn into trees WHAT 😭😭 mlp made such a horrifying disease and you made it even more scary. the fact that argyle could literally see himself turning into a tree and was screaming for help is just gruesome and think about all the ponies that died from that disease and had to witness themselves turn into one. but im also wondering about one of the questions at the start of the video, are they still conscious? i thought maybe there would be some answer at the end but no, the video just ends. and not knowing if they are conscious or not is actually kinda creepier than if we did know if they were conscious.
